Montauk Surf Report for Montauk New York

Monatuk and New York Beaches Surf Report for 04-05-2025

Listen Later

Beach Lovers and Wave Watchers, listen up! The surf is brewing some serious attitude today along the New York coastline.

We're looking at a HIGH RIP CURRENT WARNING across all our favorite beaches from Brooklyn to the Hamptons. Translation: stay out of the water unless you're auditioning for an extreme survival documentary.

Our coastal zones are experiencing east winds cranking between 15 and 20 miles per hour, pushing waves around 3 to 4 feet high. For those counting, that's serious surf energy. The water temperature hovers in the upper 60s - chilly enough to make you think twice about a casual swim.

Cloudy skies are dominating the scene with a chance of rain, so pack your windbreaker and forget those beach selfies. UV index is low, which means minimal sunburn risk - silver linings, right?

Low tide hits different spots throughout the morning - Coney Island at 12:03, Rockaway around 12:05, Jones Inlet at 11:55, and Shinnecock at 12:07. Sunset comes early today at roughly 6:40 PM, so plan accordingly.

Serious warning: Rip currents are no joke. If you're tempted to challenge these waters, remember the survival mantra - float, don't fight. Swim parallel to shore, signal for help, and never swim alone.

Pro tip: This is the last surf forecast until Memorial Day weekend next year. Make your beach memories count - from a safe distance.

Stay smart. Stay dry. Catch you on the sand!
