Monatuk and New York Beaches Surf Report for 05-13-2025

Listen Later

Surf Riders and Beach Lovers! This is your coastal connection coming to you live from the New York metro beaches with a critical surf zone alert.

Heads up beach warriors - today's ocean is throwing some serious attitude! We're looking at a HIGH RIP CURRENT risk that's no joke. If you're thinking about diving into these waters, think again. The surf is cranking out waves around 3 to 4 feet with east winds hammering between 15 to 20 miles per hour.

The vibe? Cloudy with a chance of rain and temperatures hanging in the upper 60s. Surf temperature is equally chilly, sitting in the mid to upper 60s. Translation: pack a wetsuit if you're feeling adventurous.

Beach breakdown: From Coney Island to Rockaway, Long Beach to Fire Island, and out to the Hamptons, every stretch of sandy real estate is under a high rip current warning until 6 PM. Lifeguards are basically saying "stay dry or pay the price."

Pro survival tips: If you somehow find yourself caught in a rip current, don't panic and fight the current. Float, stay calm, and signal for help. Swim parallel to the shore or wait for rescue. Your ego is not worth risking your life.

Sunrise happened around 6:40-6:50 AM, sunset drops by 6:36-6:44 PM. UV index is low, so sunscreen is optional but always smart.

Beach forecast concludes - stay safe, stay smart, and respect the ocean's power!
