I think people discard friendships these days because if it gets the least bit tough, people would rather just see it end than have a thoughtful, tough conversation. Sure, tough conversations are hard, but loss of relationship is harder. The good stuff often comes through the tough stuff, and deeply rooted friendships require boundaries.
Boundaries aren’t easy, but they also aren’t designed to be a wall. They are a fence that keeps out the bad but protects and welcomes the good.
