So many of us have pursued a goal, thinking we’d be happy once we reach it – only to find that we were no happier when it happened. We all have ideas about what our life is supposed to look like, and what success means. But where does that vision of success come from and why are so many of us left unsatisfied?
This week, psychotherapist, Joanna Kleinman of Dethroning Your Inner Critic talks to us about the difference between the real you and your inner critic. Do you have a critical voice inside your head, telling you who you’re supposed to be or maybe even how you don’t measure up? Guess what – we all do. We won’t be getting rid of this voice anytime soon, but right now – in the midst of a global pandemic - may be the perfect time to take the power away from that voice and give it back to the true you. In this episode you’ll learn:
In this episode, Joanna referenced the book, The Soul of Money by Lynne Twist.
About the Guest:
Joanna Kleinman is a licensed psychotherapist, life and corporate coach, author, podcaster, motivational speaker, and the founder of Dethroning Your Inner Critic. She considers herself to be an unconventional therapist and is driven by the conviction that the most powerful life you can live is when you know the difference between YOU and your Inner Critic. She developed the M.I.N.D Method, a time tested, proven system that brings together practical psychology, neuroscience and the power of intention to discover who you are separate from the critical voice in your mind. With over 23 years experience, she has worked with corporations such as Campowerment, Cigna, and Nestle, and has transformed the lives of thousands of people, detailing how they can design a new future by rewiring the automatic way they think and act, and breaking the habit of giving energy and attention to their Inner Critic.

Maybe you’ve wondered what an estate plan is and if you need one. Or maybe you do know what it is but think it’s just something ‘wealthy’ people do. Our guest, Crista Hermance of the Hermance Law Firm breaks it all down for us in today’s episode. From the perspective of a mother and an attorney, Crista explains to us:
About the Guest:
As both a mother and an attorney, Crista Hermance understands the unique legal needs of families. She knows that all parents, regardless of their net worth, need comprehensive estate planning to ensure their wishes are followed and their families are protected.
Crista has focused her California-based law practice solely on the estate planning needs of young families. She has two daughters who are five and three, and has created a practice around having a work-life balance that allowed her to be both a mom and an attorney. With a play room, kid-friendly snacks, and a diaper changing station in the restroom, she’s also used her motherhood experiences to create an office environment that is welcoming to families with children.
Crista was born and raised in Ventura, California, and lived there the majority of her life. She majored in business management at San Diego State University and soon there after started working for Citigroup in Jacksonville, FL. She worked as a project manager for Citigroup and traveled extensively throughout the world, and even relocating to the Philippines for a year. After living in the Philippines, Crista moved back to California and began her legal career.
After passing the bar and as an associate attorney Crista began focusing on estate planning, personal injury and bankruptcy cases. It was then that she realized she really enjoyed helping families with their estate planning and decided to start her own practice where she could focus solely on estate planning and ensuring that young families know how to protect their family.

Do you want to raise your kids to be smart about money, but don’t know where to start? If so, today’s episode is for you. Our guest John Lanza of Snigglezoo will help us learn the ins-and-outs of financial education for kids and his book The Art of Allowance. We discuss when we should start talking about money with our children, the real purpose of allowance (hint: it’s not to get your kids to do chores), and how to help our kids learn about money when maybe we don’t feel like we’re doing everything right ourselves.
About the Guest:
John Lanza is on a mission to help families raise money-smart, money-empowered kids so they can live happier, more fulfilled lives. To that end, he has written The Art of Allowance along with three other children’s books. John is the creator and Chief Mammal of The Money Mammals, an award-winning DVD and youth savings program for credit unions nationwide, all built around the core Money Mammals mantra, “We’ll Share & Save & Spend Smart Too!”
John’s mission began with a simple question, “How can we raise our kids to be money smart?” He and his wife realized quickly that financial literacy was vital not only for their own six month old but for all families and The Money Mammals were born – a pioneering program to get kids excited about becoming money smart.
Then The Great Recession hit. It further underscored the need for financial literacy learning for all Americans and it provided the backdrop for John to begin testing out the basic tenets of what would become The Art of Allowance: A Short, Practical Guide to Raising Money-Smart, Money-Empowered Kids with his kids, now fifteen and thirteen. With so many families falling prey to the dangers of our consumer-oriented society, John found that his message was resonating, including the importance of teaching kids the impermanence of stuff, the things we own. Because children are targeted at such a young age with messages with messages to spend, it’s now clear that parents should start early in order to raise money-smart, money-empowered children.

Meal planning is a great way to save money by cooking more at home, but only if it works for your family! Too often busy moms try to meal plan but because of our ever-changing schedules, picky eaters, and little time to cook, it doesn’t work. Today we’re interviewing Marie Fiebach of the Feed Your Family Tonight Podcast, who will change the way you meal plan for your family.
About the Guest:
Marie Fiebach is a married mother of four active kids aged 12-17. In 2017 she founded Feed Your Family Tonight to help busy families eat dinner together at home and recapture a little calm in the crazy. She is a cookbook author, podcaster, and has a weekly cooking segment on her local ABC affiliate. Marie knows how hard it is to get dinner on the table whether you are working until 6:00, running kids to after-school activities, or chasing toddlers all day. She has dealt with picky eaters, food allergies, and busy schedules but still manages to feed her family a home-cooked meal almost every night. She wants to help you do the same.

In this episode, we interview Deborah Price, a pioneer in the field of behavioral money coaching, who explains how the key to addressing unwanted money habits is unlocking these subconscious beliefs. Deborah teaches us the eight different money types and their tendencies, as well as how our type, and our parents' types, are impacting our marriage and relationships.
