  • Tina Kothari – Money and currency? don’t confuse the two.
In this episode I chat to Tina Kothari. Tina came to England as a small baby. She tells her story from getting a Philosophy Degree, to commerce and banking, to becoming a counsellor and trainer working with people with addiction and eating disorders in Europe and the USA, before working with executives at Blue Chip companies. She explains how her life experiences fired her passion for Human Rights. She has combined this passion with her love of film to launch Another Way Now, an organisation dedicated to shining a light on human rights abuses, changing conversations, and bringing action, to what is happening in the world.
Tina shares her experience of the power of stories to motivate and educate. We speak about the difference between money and currency and why money is such a cause of angst in relationships. She explains the three principles that guide her spending on her (adult) children.
She finishes off with her best money purchase for around £30 and her Money Pearls of Wisdom.
Sit back, grab yourself an espresso (or drink of your choice!) and enjoy the conversation.

  • Martin Ruskin - How religion and finance come together
In this episode I chat to Martin Ruskin. Martin is a Client Director at Paradigm Norton and Board Member of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investments (CISI).
Why am I chatting to one of my colleagues at Paradigm Norton? Well, if I am expecting our guests to share their money stories and wisdom, it’s only right that we ask one of the Client Directors of our sponsor to do so too!
In this open and honest conversation Martin shares glimpses into his early money memories, his business journey and his time as a Pastor. Martin corrects the oft misquoted ‘money is the root of all evil’ verse as we explore the relationship between money and religion.

  • Carl Richards – Don’t focus on goals, let values and purpose guide you

  • Paula Higgleton – An inspirational story of leaving school at 16 to becoming Vice Chair at Deloitte
In this episode I chat to Paula Higgleton who shares her inspiring career journey, her people management success and money and life wisdom.
Paula left school at 16 to a job in the VAT office in Southend, where she grew up. A discerning manager noticed her talent and encouraged her to join the Civil Service Day Release scheme to study for a BTEC in Business Studies. From there she joined the Inland Revenue in the then newly formed Self-Assessment team. Her desire to learn more took her to a local accountancy practice where she started her professional qualifications, then to a mid-tier firm before being approached by PWC (then Coopers and Lybrand) and five years later Deloitte where she rose from Partner to Senior Partner and Vice Chair before she retired in May 2020.
We discuss the hard work principles she learned from her parents, her money values, how to have a good night out on a fiver, how she has helped ultra-wealthy families deal with tax and legacy, embracing retirement, her passion for education and social mobility and desire to visit as many countries in the word as possible.
At the end of our conversation Paula shares her guilty money secret and her Money Pearls of Wisdom.
Sit back, grab yourself an espresso (or drink of your choice!) and enjoy the conversation.
