2021 may have been a lot of things, and the vast majority of those things a bit pants, but one thing that was not pants was the movie output. It was a cracking year and the chaps all weigh in with their highlights in our review of the movie-watching year gone by. What reigned supreme? Did anything reign supreme? Did we even have a methodology for deciding the er...supreme reigner? All the answers are contained within. Apart from that last question, that is a firm 'no'.
In addition, Scott, Kev and Chris chat their start to 2022 with reviews of Power of the Dog, Licorice Pizza, Boiling Point and Belfast.
In other news, we realised too late that the symmetry of having the review of 2021 as episode 21 and the preview of 2022 as episode 22 would've been perfect, further solidifying the fact that we are rebels that fly in the face of convention. Or catastrophically disorganised. Either works.
We also promised you social media links. Take them and make use of them.

What's this? What's this? What do we want to call it? Season 2? Or is it technically Season 3? A hiatus? Either way, the boys of Monkey See Monkey Review have gone through illness, new jobs, lockdown release and we're fixing to make up for lost time with our own brand of freewheeling chat and positivity. Merry Christmas! It's the gift you didn't know you needed and we've thrown away the receipt.
The ever present Scott is joined by the silky tones of Craig to do what we do - wax lyrical about movies and the experience of watching movies. This time out we look at what is on offer for home viewers over the festive period and talk the movies that make you feel festive that aren't actually Christmas movies.
In addition, Tracks of the Trade returns with a new angle and has divided itself into two entirely new entities. Listen on for more information!
Oh and here are our social media links for good measure:

We're 18! That makes us grown ups, right? Sure. If you like. Scott, Kev and Craig are here this time round and giddy that cinema is back, baby! We have reviews of big screen treats like Spiral: From The Book of Saw and BIG MONSTERS HITTING EACH OTHER in Godzilla vs Kong. On the streaming side of things, we talk Without Remorse and the fact that Michael B Jordan with his shirt off pleases Kev, as well as fighting for every last breath in Oxygen. For this week's surprisingly emotive and cathartic discussion, we talk the films we love that we aren't in a hurry to watch again and wrap things up with Amy Adams and a goat in this week's Pitch Battle and adding more majestic tunes to Tracks of the Trade.
As promised, here are those lovely social media links:

Welcome to the Episode Notes for the 17th installment of the Monkey See Monkey Review Podcast. It's a bit of reviewfest this time out, if that floats your boat. We've seen lots of good-to-great films, so Scott, Christopher, Kev and Craig wanted to spend a bit of time digging into them a bit. What can you expect? Well, step this way...
Do you like dogs? Well, for two cracking family adventures, we have a very good Boy in Love and Monsters, and The Mitchells and The Machines, which features a dog? A pig? A loaf of bread? There's lots more to talk about with them too. But that's not all: you want Oscar winners? Great! We talk the nomad lifestyle and the colossus that is Frances McDormand in Nomadland. You want sci-fi? Sure thing, how about the peerless Toni Colette in Stowaway? A brief detour through some tough body horror, maybe? Then we have you covered with Possessor Uncut. And to finish, we present you with some quality British indie drama in the shape of the wonderful Wilderness. Add a garnish of our usual tangental chats and a quick Oscars recap and you're about there.
Not forgetting our regular Pitch Battle and additions to our Tracks of the Trade playlist.

The 2021 Academy Awards are upon us, so Scott, Kev and Chris gear up by reviewing hot Oscar contenders Minari, The Sound of Metal and Promising Young Woman, as well as taking you through a whistlestop tour of the main contenders this year. We also review Andy Samberg/Cristin Milioti time loop comedy Palm Springs (and attempt to break the record for saying Groundhog Day the most times in 2 minutes), Scott hits the Bong (Joon-Ho) hard to talk about Memories of Murder and we attempt to convincingly introduce a giraffe into a Civil War epic with our Pitch Battle. Add in a diversion through Jurassic Park and an Oscars-themed Tracks of the Trade, and you've got yourself a jam packed pod to please your ears. We promise we won't thank our agents or accidentally out a teacher if you leave us a positive review.

For your fortnightly dose of movie chat and bonhomie, Scott, Chris and Craig tackle prison breaks with Escape From Pretoria, PTSD with Cherry, rock 'n' roll and recreational substances with Creation Stories and gods, heroes, villains and numb bums with Zack Snyder's Justice League. We also tap into some of the movies that take us back to a moment and invoke memories of particular times in our lives.
And if you're missing Kev, don't worry. In 3 years time we'll be re-releasing this episode as the 4 hour Haney Cut.

Your fix of fortnightly film fun from four fantastic fellas is here. Reviews this time cover Eddie Murphy's return from Zamunda in Coming 2 America, solidarity and patriarchy smashing in Amy Poehler's Moxie and searing performances from Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield in Judas and the Black Messiah. In Defence Of... returns with Scott revisiting the second and third Pirates of the Caribbean movies to see if they are ripe for reassessment. Pitch Battle is the loudest, most hysterical one yet as only one featuring Brian Blessed could be and the chaps put forth their latest Tracks of the Trade additions.

Unfurl the banners, grab a slab of cake and toot your party horns, Monkey See Monkey Review: The Podcast turns 1 today. Scott, Chris, Kev and Craig (all clearly giddy with the excitement) talk feuding couples in Malcolm and Marie, heartwarming drama in Palmer, whether a full force Tom Hardy can save Capone and superhero squirrels in Flora and Ulysses. For our discussion this time out, we mark the impending return of cinemas by taking a trip down memory lane and celebrating all that is great about the big screen. In addition, scary potatoes and spud-puns abound in our Pitch Battle and 4 more tune are added to the Tracks of the Trade playlist.
To one and all that supported us in the last, crazy 12 months, thank you. Here's to many more!

Our first anniversary is upon us and one year to the day the podcast was conceived (immaculately), a fourth voice has joined our choir. This time out, Scott, Chris and Kev welcome dear friend Craig and set about reviewing Greenland, News of the World, I Care A Lot and Mogul Mowgli. The team also gives their recommendations for films showing on Disney+ Star, run into Pitch Battle armed only with a fabled, enchanted can of fizzy drink and Tim Allen-esque grunting noises, and top up the ever growing Tracks of the Trade playlist.
