  • Cell Membranes And Nation States: Has The West Gone Mad With Migration?
In todays episode I make an analogue between nation states and cell membranes* with respect to current state of migration in the western world. We are currently seeing a rise in racism and xenophobia with movements on the right gaining traction and the 'others' being singled out. Is there a valid reason behind this shift? I make the argument that it is indeed valid though often misdirected. I think that the energies of those engaged in highly xenophobic activities are misguided in targeting those who don't look and speak like them and should rather be directed towards to political classes who fuel these problems. Even though I anticipate that the changes in the west already taking place (both via the existing actions of politicians in opening the mass migration flood gates and the counter movements that will arise to combat this) will make life harder for me and those who look like myself I think that despite all its flaws the cultures, values and opportunities of the west are worth preserving. Here I make a firm stand for sustainable and selective migration to the west well below current levels.
    * I incorrectly switch to 'cell wall' a few times during this episode but really I mean cell membrane! Want to listen to more episodes?

  • What On Earth Is Fair? Why You Should Stop Wallowing In Self Pity
"It's so unfair" is probably something we ought to cut out for our vocabularies. After being prompted externally and reflecting on how I've allowed this to creep in I reflect on the why wanting 'fairness' for the vast majority of us who are privileged to simply listen to podcasts in English is fundamentally flawed. • Lessons From 100 Episodes: Detaching Effort From Outcome And More
Last week I released my 100th podcast episode since starting Monologues by Hasi over 2 years ago. Throughout that period I've learnt a lot by engaging in the process of creating content and getting it out there. In this episode I condense some of the key learnings. • Understanding Nth Order Effects: How Legalising Gay Marriage May Help Straight Men
Charlie Munger, billionaire investor and vice-chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, was a large proponent of 2nd (and beyond) order thinking about the consequences of our decisions and the consequences of those consequences and so on as a good process for effective decision making. In this episode I highlight how the December 2017 changes to Australia's marriage act to legalise same-sex marriage may inadvertently help straight men in the future as the result of nth order effects as a means to demonstrate the principle. I also discuss the dangers of failing to consider nth order effects when we make decisions and evaluate the policies we support in jurisdictions where we have voting rights. • Minimising Your Dependence On Neurochemical Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) Solutions
In the world of neurochemistry buy now pay later solutions (BNPL) exist very much like they do in the world of finance - we call them intoxicants and one of the most commonly consumed globally is alcohol. After almost half a decade of not drinking alcohol I did and given the perspectives that I have gained from a past of heavy drinking, a long period of sobriety and now a drink following immense personal development I can now truly reflect on whether Neurochemical BNPL solutions are truly worth it and in what capacity. • Why You Should Speak To The Stranger In The Lunch Room
A simple high value add you can make to your lives and those around you especially in 3rd places where you neither live or (explicitly) work is to be the person to say 'Hello' and introduce yourself. I've been more reliant on on doing this to make connections since travelling solo for the past few months and will definitely be incorporating this into my day to day going forward. In this episode I reflect on some of the great skills, wisdom and experiences I've been able to unlock with a simple 'Hi'. Want to listen to more episodes?

  • The Young Male Advice Column: Yes You're The Problem. All Our Problems Are Your Fault.
The current phase western civilisation is going through involves pitting men against women which is, in my very humble opinion, incredibly detrimental to our society. As someone who lives in and benefits from the western world, which has flaws like any society, it is in my very selfish self interest to speak about this and improve the system from within as opposed to those who seek to tear it down. If you're a young man and you're constantly listening to how you are the problem then listen on. Want to listen to more episodes?
