  • On the Shoulders of Giants- Talking Old Timers with Thomas! Who was Tom Slick?
Julie and Thomas talk about millionaire Tom Slick who was behind the Pacific Northwest Expeditions beginning in the late 50's.  Investigators of the group included John Green, Rene Dahinden, Bob Titmus, and Peter Byrne.  Thomas tells us the behind the scene stories as told to him by John Green and Rene Dahinden and other sources and some of these events are downright hilarious!  They talk about the group Tom put together up in Canada and what became of any potential evidence that was collected, and who contributed some of the funding such as the Father of Cryptozoology, Ivan Sanderson. Why was there so much infighting among the group? How did actor Jimmy Stewart play a role in all of this?  What sort of impact could Tom Slick had over time in the hunt for the elusive Sasquatch had he not met an untimely death in plane over Montana?  Tune in to find out on this episode of "On the Shoulders of Giants- Talking Old Timers with Thomas!"
Thomas is from British Columbia and has been researching the Sasquatch enigma since 1978 and is considered by many to be an "old school" investigator.  He has authored three books on the topic:  "The Sasquatch in Alberta"', 1989; “Sasquatch, Bigfoot, The Continuing Mystery", 1993; and "In search of Giants", 2000. Thomas has also co-authored two other titles: "Meet the Sasquatch", 2004 and "Sasquatch in British Columbia”, 2012. He has also written many articles and appeared on numerous television and Radio documentaries. Thomas was privy to the stories of how all of this Bigfoot Investigating began, and was friends with several of the “Squatchfathers”!
Julie lives outside of the Uwharrie Forest in North Carolina and is an active field investigator and has a keen interest in all Bigfoot research history.

  • On the Shoulders of Giants- Talking with Thomas and the Bluff Creek Project!
Rowdy Kelley and Robert Leiterman of the Bluff Creek Project join hosts Thomas and Julie to discuss their recent attempt at recreating the last 30 seconds of the Patterson/Gimlin film on Plus X reversal 16mm film through a K-100 camera owned by Daniel Perez.  On December 9th they released the film on their Facebook Page for the public to examine.  Here is the exert from that post:  "Here is the Bluff Creek Project's attempt at recreating the last 30 seconds of the Patterson/Gimlin film on Plus X reversal 16mm film through a K-100 camera owned by Daniel Perez. Initially this test was to just see the difference in frame lines between the 15mm and 25mm lens at Patterson's estimated location. But before we shot the film we remeasured and resurveyed the "smiley face" stump to Patterson's frame 352 position and got a new location from Mun's attempt in 2012. Ours appears to be more accurate in that we have better sight lines now from the 6 years of clearing lower branches at the site. It brought us closer to the edge of the bank and made it easier to at least recreate the last 30 seconds of the film starting about 4 seconds before frame 352. Munn's position was about 8 feet away down the bank closer to the creek bed and made it to cumbersome to emulate Patterson's camera movement and position. We will make another attempt next year as close to the anniversary date as possible with a better game plan, view and color low light film."
This undoubtedly brings a new perspective to the table as related to the PG Film site, with the folks from the Bluff Creek Project!

  • Monster X Radio welcomes award winning book author Max Hawthorne!
Award winning author of the Kronos Rising book series sits down with host Julie Rench to discuss the possibility of a recent video of an injured Killer Whale being the victim of an attack by what we believe to be extinct Mosasaur.  On November 30th, the Facebook page known as Carcharodon Carcharias released a video of a pair of Killer whales swimming with the female having unsual bite marks across her flesh.  Max elaborates on what he feels would not be the cause of the markings and offers a controversial possible conclusion based on deduction, that this unfortunate whale was the victim of a living Mosasaur.  What is he basing this conclusion on and how did he eliminate other possible causes?  Tune in to find out on this episode of Monster X Radio!
To check out Max's blog which include the video of the subject please go here: http://www.kronosrising.com/killer-whale-survives-an-attack-from-a-living-mosasaur/
Known as the Prince of Paleofiction, Max Hawthorne is the author of the award-winning KRONOS RISING novel series and an amateur paleontologist to boot.
