  • Conservationist and Investigator Bea Mills from Ohio joins OTSG!
    Conservationist and investigator Bea Mills appears on this episode of  "On the Shoulders of Giants- Talking Old Timers with Thomas Steenburg" to discuss the event that occurred at Salt Fork State Park in Ohio that turned her from a hard-core skeptic to joining ranks in the BFRO to do field research.  They also talk about her experiences in the field and what comes next for her and the Hocking Hills Bigfoot Conference and the newly created Hocking Hills Bigfoot Festival in Ohio.
    Bea Mills is an avid outdoors woman and has worked 23 years in the medical field. She is the current president of the Hocking Hills Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist Chapter. Bea is the founder and organizer of both the Hocking Hills Bigfoot Conference and the new Hocking Hills Bigfoot Festival.  She is an educator and promoter of conservation of our natural areas.  She has hosted both private and public expeditions and is a BFRO investigator for Ohio.  In 2019 the “Bigfoot Times Magazine” declared her the first woman “Bigfooter of the Year”.  She was also featured in an episode of “Finding Bigfoot” and owns her own company, BeaOutdoors.

  • Jean Tewksbury, Curator of International Cryptozoology Museum joins OTSG!
    On this episode of "On the Shoulders of Giants- Talking Old Timers with Thomas Steenburg", Jean Tewskbury, curator of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine joins us.  We chat about how she became involved in cryptozoology in the first place, her role as curator of the museum and the new smaller version that opened this year in Bangor, Maine.  We discuss some of the artifacts in the museums, that includes a letter from the actor Jimmy Stewart and how it is linked to the Pangboche Yeti hand mystery.  Also, Jean is extremely interested in gathering evidence of Pumas in Maine, thought to be extinct in that state.  She shares with us how she became so driven to not only prove they still exist there, but that they need to be put back on the endangered species list for the proper protection.  Be sure to tune in for this and much more!

  • Co-founder of "Project Zoobook" Amy Bue joins OTSG with Thomas Steenburg!
    On this episode of “On the Shoulders of Giants with Thomas Steenburg”, Thomas and Julie welcome writer, educator, and investigator Amy Bue from Northeast Ohio!  She is the cofounder of “Project Zoobook”, a collaboration of Bigfoot investigators working alongside primate zookeepers, primatologists, wildlife biologists, anthropologists, and other scientists.  She is also a team member of the Olympic Project Research Team, Certified Volunteer Naturalist, and owner of Amy’s Bucket List Expeditions.  Her main research is conducted in Forest County, Pennsylvania and Columbiana County, Ohio, but she travels throughout North America speaking, taking witness reports, and looking for evidence of Sasquatch.  How in the world did a school teacher from Ohio become involved in so many exciting projects and thrilling expeditions?  Tune in to find out how it all started and hear about the importance of her involvement in “Project Zoobook” and the impact it has towards the whole Bigfoot enigma!

    Host, author and consultant Larry "Beans" Baxter joins Thomas and Julie to discuss his investigation into the legend of the abandonment of the village Portlock, Alaska back in the 1940's. Larry was part of two expeditions to this ghost town located in the Port Chatam Bay looking for the legendary Nantiinaq, who allegedly mutilated some of the villagers.. Did this creature really murder them, causing them to abandon their village, or was there more to the story? Did the untimely fire at the cannery have anything to do with this legend? What did Larry and his teams ultimately discover during their investigation. and were they able to sift thru the stories and separate fact from fiction?
    Larry “Beans” Baxter was born in Kentucky, in the remote areas of Muhlenberg County. His interest in the unexplained and cryptozoology started at a young age, He enlisted in the Army in his early 20’s, and found himself stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska. Over the next four years he developed a passion for exploring Alaska’s vast wilderness.
    When his military service came to an end, Beans started a career in law enforcement. First serving with the Saint Paul Police Department on the remote island of Saint Paul in the Bering Sea. After three years, he transferred to Homer Police Department on the Kenai Peninsula.
    After eight years as a patrolman he was promoted to Investigations Sergeant. Beans has been fortunate to participate in two expeditions to the remote abandoned town site Port Chatham in search of the Hairy Man or Nantiinaq as the local natives call it. As well as contributing to numerous documentaries and television shows about Bigfoot and cryptids such as Finding Beasts, In Search of the Port Chatham Hairy Man, The Alaska Triangle, Bigfoot Encounters in the Pacific Northwest and Aliens in Alaska.

    On this episode of "On the Shoulders of Giants- Talking Old Timers with Thomas Steenburg", Thomas and Julie welcome back Suzanne Farencak for the second of a two part show.  They discuss the Hocking Hills Bigfoot Conference she was a speaker at recently and an upcoming event in 2022 that she is assisting with at Pleasant Hill Lake Park. This event is still in the planning stages but it appears it is going to be very interesting and we will keep our listeners posted as we find out more.  They also discuss her thoughts on what these elusive creatures are and what some of the folks in the community believe they are, that is not exactly science.  Be sure to tune in!
