Winfield and Thrashamundar quit dicking around and finally make it to Asheport. There they meet Verna, a calculating little fairy servant who is aide to Baron Creed.

Verna promises Winfield she can get him dismissed from his service to the Shieldguard if he and Thrash can clear an old Temple of undead, hoping it will help her to gain insight into lost city.
