[Montagnes Podcast - Épisode 16] Pauline Champon sur la face nord du Cholatse
Pour ce 16ème et dernier épisode de la saison 2 de Montagnes Podcast, nous vous emmenons sur les traces de Pauline Champon sur la face nord du Cholatse.
Pauline est une alpiniste qui a transformé sa passion de jeunesse pour l'escalade en une quête des sommets les plus audacieux. De l'alpinisme à l'escalade, en passant par les canyons et les cascades de glace, Pauline a gravi les échelons pour rejoindre le groupe féminin de haute montagne (GFHM), puis le prestigieux Groupe excellence alpinisme national (GEAN).
Alors que le chapitre du GEAN se clôt pour elle, Pauline et son équipe se préparent pour leur ultime expédition au Népal, au cœur des géants de la vallée du Khumbu, afin d'ouvrir une nouvelle voie sur la face nord du Cholatse, une course aussi technique qu'engagée.

[Montagnes Podcast - Épisode 15] Antoine Girard, vol au-dessus du Broad Peak
Pour ce 15ème épisode de Montagnes Podcast, nous recevons l'aventurier parapentiste Antoine Girard pour son expédition en 2021 dans le massif du Karakoram.
À 40 ans passés, Antoine Girard est l’un des premiers à avoir combiné les pratiques du parapente et de l'alpinisme. Il est surtout connu pour ses performances en Himalaya et plus précisément au nord du Pakistan, dans le massif du Karakoram. C’est là-bas qu’en 2016, il parvient à survoler l'un des 14 8000, le Broad Peak, et surtout à atteindre l’altitude record, jamais enregistrée en parapente, de 8 157 mètres.
5 ans plus tard, en 2021, Antoine décide de revenir dans la région pour initier d’autres alpinistes au vol en très haute montagne et surtout tenter de repousser une nouvelle fois son propre record.

[Montagnes Podcast - Épisode 14] Victor Saucède au Dansam Peak
14ème épisode de Montagnes Podcast, avec l'alpiniste pyrénéen Victor Saucède qui revient sur son expédition rocambolesque à l'assaut de la face nord du Dansam Peak en 2021 avec ses acolytes Martin Elias, Jérémy Stagnetto et Jérôme Sullivan.
Au milieu du glacier, un homme avance lentement. Ses pas sont rythmés sur sa respiration, ses pensées s'envolent, son esprit voyage. C’est dans les Pyrénées que Victor Saucède découvre la montagne. Une histoire d’amour avec le rocher qui l'emmène jusqu’à Chamonix. Il y fera la connaissance Martin Elias, Jérôme Sullivan et Jérémy Stagnetto qui, en 2021, l'inviteront à partir en expédition. Victor découvre alors pour la première fois l'Himalaya. Tous rêvent de gravir le Dansam Peak surnommé le K13, un 6000 dressé au cœur de la vallée du Kondus au Pakistan. À part quelques photos et récits, ils ne connaissent rien de cette montagne. Par où vont-ils passer ? Est-il possible d’atteindre le sommet ? Le mystère reste à lever.

[Montagnes Podcast - Épisode 12] Jean Annequin au Panbari
Jean Annequin fait partie de ceux qui préfèrent aux vallées populaires, l'intimité des massifs discrets. Au Népal, au Japon, en Iran, Jean est un guide des montagnes du monde. En quête de l’oxygène rare et des lumières d’altitude, à contre-pied de la performance, seul compte pour lui l'aventure.
C’est ce désir qui, en 2021, le pousse à emmener quelques clients au Népal sur la route du Panbari à presque 7 000 mètres, à l’ombre du Manaslu, proche de la frontière avec le Tibet. Un sommet quasi secret qui le hante depuis son échec en 2016. Son esthétisme et sa ligne de ski en font une montagne de choix. Une course facile certains diront. Pourtant, la météo capricieuse en décidera autrement. Ils le savent, là-haut, l'imprévu s'invite toujours au voyage. Rien n'est écrit.

[Montagnes Podcast - Épisode 11] Sophie Lavaud au Dhaulagiri, son 12ème 8000
Sophie Lavaud se décrit comme une femme ordinaire avec un rêve extraordinaire. En 2012, elle marque les esprits en grimpant le Shishapangma et le Cho Oyu. C’est alors qu’une idée folle germe dans sa tête : gravir les 14 8000. Depuis, Sophie ne quitte plus l’Himalaya. Everest, Makalu, Broad Peak... elle multiplie les ascensions. En octobre 2019, elle attaque son 12ème 8000, le Dhaulagiri, perché à 8167 mètres. Une première tentative, une seconde, puis une troisième, Sophie enchaîne les échecs mais elle ne lâche rien.
En 2021, elle est de retour pour la quatrième fois, si proche de réaliser son rêve mais rien n'est fini. Chaque 8000 est une épreuve qui réserve toujours son lot de surprises.

[Montagnes Podcast - Épisode 9] François Damilano dans l'ouest oublié du Népal
L’Himalaya pour cadre, l’himalayiste pour sujet, François Damilano est un cinéaste des cimes. Au Manaslu, au Dhaulagiri ou au K2, il immortalise les grandes expéditions. C’est cette envie de découverte qui, en 2013, pousse François à prendre la route de l’Ouest, vers ces vallées oubliées du Népal où les expéditions sont rares et l’exploration encore possible.
Accompagné de Paulo Grobel, un guide habitué des montagnes perdues, il emmène un groupe de clients dans la vallée du Kanjiroba Himal. Tous veulent monter le Bijora, une belle arrête, sur une belle montagne. Pourtant, à 6111 mètres, le sommet fait pâle figure à côté des géants népalais.
Mais dans ces mondes reculés, rien n’est simple. La vie en autonomie, l’incertitude de l’itinéraire, la longueur de l’approche, rendra l’expédition complexe. Ils le savent. Rien ne se passera comme prévu.

[Montagnes Podcast - Épisode 8] Tiphaine Duperier sur le Gasherbrum II
En juillet 2021, les skieurs de l’extrême Tiphaine Duperier, Boris Langenstein, Aurélia Lanoe et Guillaume Pierrel sont dans le massif du Karakoram au Pakistan avec pour objectif de skier le Gasherbrum II, treizième plus haut sommet du monde avec ses 8 035 m. Pour atteindre le sommet, les quatre alpinistes font le choix de passer par l’éperon sud, surnommé la voie des Français. Un itinéraire ouvert en 1975 par Marc Batard, Yannick Seigneur et Louis Audoubert.
Après cinq jours d’ascension, le 11 juillet à 13h, le quatuor parvient enfin au sommet. Les skieurs s’élancent dans la face et sont les premiers à emprunter cet itinéraire à skis, 37 ans après la première descente intégrale par Wim Pasquier et Patrice Bournat.

[Montagnes Podcast - Épisode 7] Hélias Millerioux sur le Rakaposhi
En juillet 2021, Hélias Millerioux, Patrick Wagnon et Yannick Graziani se lancent dans l’ascension du Rakaposhi, dans le massif du Karakoram au Pakistan. Après quatre jours de progression difficile dans la neige profonde de la longue arête sud-ouest, Hélias et Patrick atteignent le sommet le 26 juillet tandis que Yannick s'arrête au camp 3.
Depuis la première ascension en 1958, rares sont les alpinistes à avoir atteint le sommet de cette montagne culminant à 7 788 m. Mais en 2019, les Japonais Kazuya Hiraide et Kenro Nakajima y parviennent via l’arête sud-est. Un succès inédit et récompensé par un Piolet d’or.
