The Mailboxes are a pop band that make art. So, pop-art would be a good term to use when describing them. But it's much more than that, really. The Mailboxes are Logan & Jillian Ivey - a married couple that happen to also have a band. A really great band. Their mix of bright, poppy melodies combined with a very literal sense of reality give birth to an addictive concoction of happy, uplifting, and sometimes melancholy feeling. Feelings experienced when truly listening. We discuss many things in this episode. Songwriting techniques, Influences, the Appalachian trail and so much more. Drawing from such acts as Elliot Smith, Guided By Voices and more, Matt takes the raw, bare bones indie lo-fi sound and puts a painful yet delicate melancholy twist to it all.
