The Christian life starts with faith in Jesus. From there, we must grow in the knowledge of God's word and God's ways. However, Peter provides us with a crucial step necessary to gain true knowledge: moral excellence. This step cannot be neglected. The Bible is a spiritual book, and God must reveal His true knowledge to us. Moral excellence springing from faith is an essential foundation for gaining that knowledge.
