Speaker: Brian Fisher, Location: Grace Bible Church Creekside
Scripture: Ecclesiastes 2:18-26, Series: Under the Sun, Series Order: 04
Work is a blessing, but it can feel like a curse. Our work is one of the primary arenas in which we reflect the nature of God and in which we are transformed into the character of God. But when we begin to despise work, or conversely worship work, it becomes a source of frustration rather than fulfillment. Is work, for you, a blessing or a curse?

  • A Disappointing Deity
Speaker: Matt Morton, Location: Grace Bible Church Southwood
Scripture: Ecclesiastes 2:1-11, Series: Under the Sun, Series Order: 03
Pleasure is a good gift, but it is a disappointing deity. God made pleasure, and when we use it well, it draws us closer to Him. However, when we turn pleasure into a god, it will leave us feeling hollow. It might even destroy us.

Scripture: Ecclesiastes 1:12-18, Series: Under the Sun, Series Order: 02
Wisdom has value, but its value is limited. Wisdom can prolong our lives, cultivate success, and draw us closer to God. Wisdom cannot save us from death and sin, or provide us with a solid foundation for lasting significance; only Jesus can do that.

Scripture: Ecclesiastes, Series: Under the Sun, Series Order: 02
Our society believes that wisdom, education, and knowledge are the silver bullet that will solve our problems and fulfill our hopes. But as Solomon and so many others, myself included, have painfully discovered, while wisdom makes a great tool, it makes a lousy god.

  • Everything is Vanity
Speaker: Matt Morton, Location: Grace Bible Church Creekside
Scripture: Ecclesiastes 1:1-11, Series: Under the Sun, Series Order: 01
Nothing on earth can bear the weight of our need for eternal significance. When we try to find meaning in the fleeting and inconsequential pursuits of human life, we will be disappointed. The only solution is found in the power and wisdom of God.
