Greg and Dave discuss David Fincher's 1997 mystery action thriller The Game starring Michael Douglas, Sean Penn, James Rebhorn and Deborah Kara Unger. The plots follows San Francisco banker Nicholas Van Orton, a financial genius and a cold-hearted loner, who receives an unusual present from his younger brother Conrad for his birthday: a gift certificate to play a unique kind of game. In barely a nanosecond, Nicholas finds himself consumed by a dangerous set of ever-changing rules, unable to distinguish where the charade ends and reality begins.

Dave and Greg discuss Stuart Hazeldine's 2009 British psychological thriller Exam starring Colin Salmon, Jimi Mistry, Gemma Chan and Chukwudi Iwuji amongst others in an ensemble cast. The plot follows Eight talented candidates who have reached the final stage of selection to join the ranks of a mysterious and powerful corporation. Entering a windowless room, an Invigilator gives them eighty minutes to answer one simple question. He outlines three rules they must obey or be disqualified: don't talk to him or the armed guard by the door, don't spoil their papers and don't leave the room. He starts the clock and leaves. The candidates turn over their question papers, only to find they're completely blank.

Greg and Dave discuss Martin Brest's 1988 action comedy film Midnight Run starring Robert De Niro and Charles Grodin. The plot follows Bounty hunter Jack Walsh (De Niro) who is sent to find and return bail jumper and former Mafia accountant, Jonathan "The Duke" Mardukas (Grodin). The FBI has had no success in locating The Duke, so when Jack finds him in next to no time, they are a little embarrassed. To collect his $100,000 fee, Jack must take The Duke from New York to Los Angeles. However, the Mafia and the FBI have other ideas, as does Marvin Dorfler (John Ashton), a rival bounty hunter. On their long cross-country trip to LA, the two get to know each other and they build up a strange friendship.

Against a backdrop of distinctly Californian settings, the partners in crime plan the perfect murder to collect the insurance, which pays double if the death is accidental.
