When it comes to CrossFit in Australia, Chris Hogan is an OG.
In this episode of the podcast, Chris takes us through his CrossFit Journey.
From taking his first class, his first coaching job at Crossfit Melbourne ( Now Schwartz's CrossFit Melbourne), establishing Rouge Australia, four trips to compete at the Crossfit Games (3 x Individual, 1 x Team), to opening and operating his own box, CrossFit 121 in Cheltenham.
The first podcast episode that could be a contender for multiple categories (Top Performers and Legends Series), Chris was just a wealth of knowledge and experience as he took us through:
- What it takes to make it to the top level, and the commitment required to staying there
- The different approaches between competing as an individual and as part of the team
- Balancing athletic commitments with running a business and having a young family
- Creating culture within a Community that can support both high level athletes and a general population community
- Approaching Covid-19 as a box owner
- Things to keep in mind when considering opening your own space
- Things to bear in mind when becoming a parent
I really enjoyed this discussion and felt like over the hour I got a much better idea of who Chris Hogan is and what he stands for. He truly has just about seen it all as much as you can in or space and I will no doubt be continuing to pick his brain in the future!
