Jenn Loder has spent more than a decade working in citizen science- she was the director of programs and partnerships for Reef Check Australia, and she’s the current co-ordinator for the Great Barrier Reef Citizen Science Alliance.

In this episode, Jenn shares what she – and the people of Moreton Bay – have discovered about our local coral reefs through ongoing surveys in the area. We also talk about the the benefits of citizen science both for science, and for the many passionate #citsci voluntee

Dr Daryl McPhee has substantial expertise in ecological and social research for coastal zones, including fisheries research. He’s also an author, and his book  Environmental History and Ecology of Moreton Bay is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand Moreton Bay.

Dr Sue Pillans, and her alter-ego Dr Suzie Starfish, change the way people think about the ocean with her beautiful graphic recordings and marine storytelling.

Sue is a marine scientist, artist and children’s author/illustrator, with a long history of love and learning in Moreton Bay. She's also down-to-earth, fun, and immensely positive about how we can build hope for the future and a shared understanding of our oceans.

Chris Walker has built a large following on social media for his beautiful wildlife photography. This wasn't a lifelong dream of his - he actually developed his skills for one purpose: to show the people of Moreton Bay what we stand to lose if the controversial Toondah Harbour development takes place.

I talked to Chris about the genesis for his art, and the wonderful things we can see on the mudflats if we only take the time to look.

Sheridan Rabbitt works at Moreton Bay Research station, where she gets to introduce hundreds of young people to the wonders of Moreton Bay!

But her own research is also fascinating. Sheridan explains why we have to watch the seagrass and seaweed very carefully to look after our seahorses and pipefish!

Also, marine management misses the boat if it doesn't consider women's catch and expertise. How might this be reflected in Moreton Bay? Sheridan explains.
