Morgendorks: A Daria Podcast

In our second episode, we're taking an in-depth look at "Esteemsters," the official Daria pilot! When the Morgendorffer family moves to Lawndale, Daria finds herself in her new high school's self-esteem class. Thankfully, she also finds herself a new partner-in-crime. It's our introduction to the bizarre and interesting cast of characters we'll be dissecting over the next five seasons—but how does it fare as a pilot?

Join us as we take a beat-by-beat look at the episode, and the self-esteem movement that gave rise to media like Esteemsters in the mid-to-late '90s. We'll also be reviewing how the concept of such a movement is handled in the context of the show, debating whether the episode's better or worse than the unaired pilot we discussed in our first episode, and much, much more!

In our pilot episode of Morgendorks, we look at the unaired pilot of Daria, "Sealed with a Kick"! When Daria borrows a pencil from Kevin and he takes it as a symbol of her unrequited devotion, she's forced to retaliate by breaking his brain (y'know, more) and ruining his relationship with Brittany. It's a lightning-quick five-minute pilot, but we thought there'd be no better place to start.

Speaking of "no better place to start," you'll get to meet your hosts! Us! Rob and Nissa! We're affable! Sometimes. We'll explain why we're doing a Daria podcast, why now, and what we're hoping to accomplish.

Note: Yeah, we know the date on the RSS feed places this as having been released on 8/4—but our official launch was 8/16 (we're new at this), so we're rolling with that. Next episode will be out on 8/30!
