  • Mormon Corporate Corruption: Mormonism LIVE: 138

RFM and Bill Reel are joined by Spencer who shares the latest from the Widows Mite Report (https://widowsmitereport.wordpress.com/) and share their latest reveal calling into question the perception that the Deseret Mutual Benefit Administration (DMBA) was at the same time Ensign Peak was being investigated, allegedly doing the same funny business as Ensign Peak was in not filing 13F forms disclosing investment assets. Spencer runs us through the data and informs us that an anonymous person has filed complaints with the SEC. He shows that Beneficial Life may have also been doing the same thing. We are informed that a familiar face was on the board of DMBA and we also learn about “Plan Z”. While the Church has considered the SEC escapade closed, it appears that these prophets may not have seen around corners.

  • Emancipate Your Mind: 118: Creating Emotional Safety for Young Children

Parenting after deconstructing high demand religion can feel daunting. Going from a system where you’re given a road map for how to raise your children to having to rely on both your inner guidance and the guidance your kids share with you can feel scary and confusing.

Creating a parenting environment where you’re able to work alongside your kids to make sure their unique needs are met requires that kids feel emotionally safe with you. When children feel safe being vulnerable, they can share what’s working and what isn’t working for them in your parent/child relationship and in their life in general.

Today, we discuss how you can begin to create emotional safety for the very young children in your life.

  • Rameumptom Ruminations: 103: The Hasty Generalization of Moroni’s Promise

The LDS church encourages all members and potential converts to follow Moroni’s promise in Moroni 10:4–5. They are encouraged to read the Book of Mormon and then ask God if it is true. Missionaries then tell people that all the other truth claims within the church must also be true. In today’s episode, Scott explains why this line of reasoning uses the hasty generalization fallacy to prove that the church is true.

  • Emancipate Your Mind: 117: What We’ve Learned About Parenting Since Leaving High-Demand Religion with Kevin Hales

When we left Mormonism, we were terrified of what that would mean for our kids. It’s been 6 years of trusting ourselves as parents, trusting our kids input about what they want for their lives, and creating a dynamic parenting strategy together. While it has been far from perfect, we’re pleased with how things are going.

This podcast is a conversation about what we’ve learned along the way.
