Medd Baseball Tournament will take place the weekend of Friday, June 10 to Sunday, June 12. With presenting sponsor Toasted Frog, the tournament is being held in honor of Liam G. Medd, a Fargo Davies High School freshman who passed away on Feb. 1, 2021 at just 15 years old. Proceeds from the tournament will go to the 4-6-3 Foundation, a Dakota Medical Foundation fiscal sponsor project created to reduce stigma, build hope, and end teen suicide. The tournament will be held at the Tharaldson and Anderson Baseball Complexes and Jack Williams Field in Fargo, featuring 13-15 year old youth Travel and All-Star Teams from North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota. The event will kick off Friday night at 7 p.m. with messages from Liam’s parents and Dr. Nicola Herting, a Sanford Pediatric Traumatic Stress Specialist. Following the opening ceremony, teams will play in a featured game of the weekend beginning at 8 p.m. On Saturday, June 11 at 6pm, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks and the 4-6-3 Foundation will be hosting a Suicide Prevention Awareness Game at Newman Outdoor Field sponsored by Northwestern Mutual. The game will be played between the RedHawks and the Lake Country DockHounds and will feature suicide prevention resources and messages. The RedHawks will be wearing custom 4-6-3 Foundation jerseys featuring the note “Never Alone” on the back instead of the player’s names. These game jerseys will be auctioned off to raise funds for suicide prevention. Fargo Youth Baseball players will be wearing custom jerseys in the week leading up to the tournament, displaying the message that “You are not alone.” Games begin at 9 a.m. on Friday morning.
