James 4:8 tells us, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded." How will you draw near to Him today? Something to think about on today's Morning Manna.

God has a specific purpose and ministry for every Christian. Our spiritual gifts help us to fulfill His plan. 1 Peter 4:10 tells us, "As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." So my challenge to you today is to know what gift(s) God has given you and "minister it".

You simply cannot escape disappointment in this broken world. No matter how many overly optimistic commencement addresses raise the hopes of wide-eyed students every spring, sooner or later all of them will end up disappointed. Let's talk about it on today's Morning Manna.

O for a spirit of habitual prayer, that at evening, and at morning, and at noon we may pray, and cry aloud to God! If we were more with the Lord in prayer, we would have . . . more strength to carry our crosses, more patience to bear our troubles, and more comfort amidst life’s sorrows.

The book of Lamentations chronicles the challenges and struggles of the prophet Jeremiah. Yet in the midst of these 5 chapters we find this... Lamentations 3:22-23 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. Thank God for His morning mercies.

It’s easy for us to justify ourselves and think we are acting out of good intentions. As this verse in Proverbs says, we consider our actions based on appearance, and don’t reflect on our motives. Proverbs 21:2 "Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the hearts." Let's talk about it on today's Morning Manna.

"It's just a little thing. It doesn't hurt if I fudge a little, does it?" Jesus says, "Yes, it does matter." Why? Because integrity is about faithfulness to our values and to our Lord, regardless of the price. Faithfulness in small things, is an essential part of what reveals the truth about our authenticity as disciples.
