With the Centre slashing excise duty on petrol and diesel, the Punjab Government also announced a reduction in VAT on the fuels on Sunday, making them cheaper in the state by Rs 10 per litre and Rs 5 per litre, respectively.

The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.

The new rates will be effective from midnight.

The Chief Minister made the announcement while addressing the media after the Cabinet meeting.  

The retail price of petrol in the state will be Rs 96.16 per litre and for diesel it will be Rs 84.80 a litre.

Finance Minister Manpreet Badal said the reduction in VAT on the fuels is estimated to cause a revenue loss of Rs 900 crore to the state.

Battling lymphoblastic leukemia, Nia Nariman is aiming to raise a sum of Rs 10 lakh on Give India, to be used towards cancer treatment for underprivileged children.Nia’s initiative stands testament to the sheer grit and determination that is displayed at a young age. When Express Parenting reached out to Zia, the mother-daughter duo were in the hospital for a round of Nia’s chemotherapy. The single mother confessed, “My mother, Nia’s grandmother, has been my pillar of strength.”

She added, “My daughter is continuing with her soap-making business, studies, and school as best as she can. She’s a vivacious child, always curious about new things, always learning something unique. She skateboards, snowboards, sings and enjoys art as well.”

The members of the crow family (Corvidae) are among the world's most intelligent birds. The family has recently undergone taxonomic expansion, brought about by evidence gathered through genetic testing, and now includes such diverse species as birds-of-paradise, orioles, and drongos. Crows and jays belong to the subfamily Corvinae. The corvids comprise 113 species in 25 genera, which include ravens, crows, jays, magpies, rooks, nutcrackers, and jackdaws. Corvids are passerine or perching birds and count among their numbers the largest of the passerines. Corvids vary considerably in size, ranging from the tiny Hume's ground jay, which is 7.5 in (19 cm) long and weighs 1.5 oz (45 g), to the thick-billed raven, which is 25 in (64 cm) long and weighs 53 oz (1.5 kg).

The majority of the interviewees described their jobs as highly demanding, exhausting, and chaotic, and they seemed to take for granted that working long hours was necessary for their professional success. However, about 30% of the men and 50% of women in our sample appeared to consciously resist working long hours, describing a variety of strategies they developed for maintaining a healthier work-life balance. While the details of every individual case differed, our study suggested a common mental process that consistently helped this group of professionals to change the way they worked — and lived — for the better.
