    Winston Peters' promised tell-all on Facebook has failed to shed new light on the controversy surrounding the New Zealand First Foundation.
    The secretive entity is facing a Serious Fraud Office inquiry - after the Electoral Commission ruled some donations it received were not properly declared.
    The Deputy Prime Minister carried out the Facebook live chat during Parliament's dinner break last night - after earlier promising in a midnight tweet that he would reveal the truth.

    Healthline is currently contacting people who travelled home from China this month but are not in isolation.
    It's using phone numbers given to them by Customs, based on who crossed the border after 2 Februrary.

  • Covid-19: New Zealanders' isolation experiences vary
    Health officials think they can track down the estimated 4000 people who haven't registered with the new coronavirus healthline by tomorrow.
    Almost 2000 are registered as being in self-imposed quarantine.
    As for those in isolation, some want more support from the government and others can't wait for the lock down to be over.

  • Hastings community shocked by Flaxmere 4yo's beating
    Enough is enough.
    That was the message from hundreds of residents who gathered in Flaxmere Park in Hastings last night to pray for the little boy who was horrifically beaten in his home two weeks ago.
    The four-year-old is in a stable condition at Starship Hospital but the police say the brutal injuries and brain damage he suffered will leave him severely disabled, if he survives.
    As the police investigate who is responsible, anger in the community at the tragedy is palpable.

  • Legal action looming over Rio Tinto's inaction on ouvea premix
    A furious Environment Minister is considering suing the mining giant Rio Tinto over what he says is the company's failure to deal with hazardous waste from the Tiwai Point aluminium smelter.
    David Parker's tough words follow claims the company reneged on a verbal agreement given just last week to remove the waste that has been stored in the Southland town of Mataura for the past six years.

  • Security agencies received hundreds of tips on extremist views March 15
    Intelligence agencies received more than 450 tips about people expressing extremist views in the months after the March 15 terror attack.
    Security Intelligence Agency Director-General Rebecca Kitteridge and Government Communications and Security Bureau Director-General Andrew Hampton appeared before the Intelligence and Security select committee yesterday.
    Kitteridge told reporters after the committee hearing that the number of people under active investigation at any one time has increased since the attack.

  • Gore District Council CEO seethes over failure to remove smelter waste
    The chief executive of the Gore District Council is seething over what he sees as a broken promise from mining giant Rio Tinto.
    Steve Parry believed he had made with a deal with the chief executive of the Tiwai Point aluminium smelter, Stewart Hamilton, on a plan to remove hazardous waste from the Southland town of Mataura.
    The removal had become much more urgent after floods last week threatened to soak stored toxic material and release a dangerous cloud of ammonia gas.
    Parry says the company has now reneged on the deal.
