Researchers have developed an unusual weapon in the battle to protect New Zealand's native birds from mammalian predators - smells. Over two nesting seasons, the researchers from Landcare Research and the University of Sydney used "odour cues" to lure predators away from nesting sites in Canterbury. And the results, they say, are highly encouraging. Landcare's Grant Norbury is the project's lead researcher, he spoke to Corin Dann.

The days of Wellington's so-called bottomless brunches are limited after reports of people drinking too much before lunch. Taryn O'Dowd lived in Australia for 32 years before she was deported on the flight which left Brisbane on the 17th of February. She is now the subject of a now-infamous report by Nine News that saw reporter Jordan Fabris hectoring deportees as they were marched across the tarmac. Ms O'Dowd spoke to Philiipa Tolley.

The Ministry of Health is seeking to award contracts to providers who can improve abortion services. Last year, abortion was decriminalised and the administration changed hands from the Ministry of Justice to the Ministry of Health. However, associate Health Minister Dr Ayesha Verrall says a recent survey revealed there are still inconsistencies and gaps across the country. Churches in New Zealand at the centre of historical abuse claims are being given their chance to respond to evidence from abuse survivors. The Abuse in Care Royal Commission is holding a two week public hearing starting today in Auckland. It's the second part of the faith-based redress hearing and follows on from late last year when survivors shared their personal experiences of being abused.
