ACT Party leader David Seymour is confident his new caucus members are up to the challenge of being MPs. ACT got 8 percent of the party vote, giving it 10 seats - its best-ever election result. Seymour says his MPs bring a vast range of experience to parliament. He spoke to RNZ parliamentary reporter Charlie Dreaver about the election result and the hit National has taken.

As voters take stock of the election results they're putting Labour on notice. They say the outright win leaves the party with no excuses not to deliver on its promises. RNZ reporters spoke to people in the slew of electorates that switched from blue to red.

Sue Bradford is a former Green MP who served for three-and-a-bit terms of parliament between 1999 and 2009. She's an activist and academic... who resigned from parliament after unsuccessfully running for the co-leadership of the Green Party. She tells Susie Ferguson the election result is a chance for the Green to be challenging and to 'find their mojo again'.

Chris Finlayson QC, a former National Party list MP, says the result is a thoroughly deserved kick for his party. He served in parliament from 2005 until 2019... and was a Minister and the Attorney-General during the Key Government. He told Susie Ferguson that National will have to lift its game.

It's been an extraordinary result for Labour. Guyon Espiner talks to Sir Michael Cullen, who was deputy prime minister to Helen Clark, and her finance minister, about the results.

The Maori Party is set to return to Parliament, if special votes in Waiariki mirror those counted last night. At the end of the evening, Rawiri Waititi was leading Labour's Tamati Coffey by 421 ballots. RNZ's Mani Dunlop reports.

Green Party candidate Chloe Swarbrick has won Auckland Central -- beating off Labour's Helen White, and National's Emma Mellow for the role. But the gap is relatively small... with just 492 between the Green and Labour candidates. Ms Swarbrick spoke to Susie Ferguson.
