Governor Jeff Landry has unveiled a bold new strategy aimed at accelerating economic development across Louisiana through a “whole-of-government” approach. Joined by Economic Development Secretary Susan Bourgeois, the announcement introduced four key initiatives designed to support existing Louisiana businesses while attracting new investment.
The first initiative, Source Louisiana, is a newly launched website (SourceLouisiana.com) that serves as a centralized directory of Louisiana-based contractors, vendors, and suppliers. Previously, the state lacked a comprehensive list to offer major companies like Meta or Hyundai seeking local partnerships. This platform now allows businesses to verify and update their information, making it easier for incoming industries to connect with Louisiana providers.
The second initiative, Driving Louisiana Opportunity Tour, targets 2,500 “driver companies” — businesses with significant economic impact. The Department of Economic Development plans to visit 800 of these companies within a year to assess expansion plans, identify barriers, and offer tailored support.
The third initiative formalizes the collaborative model used to land Meta’s investment in Louisiana. Dubbed Project Lightning Speed, it institutionalizes the “whole-of-government” strategy where multiple state agencies work together seamlessly to attract and secure major economic projects. Governor Landry issued an executive order to ensure this model becomes standard practice.
Together, these initiatives reflect a shift toward proactive, inclusive economic development. Secretary Bourgeois emphasized that while large-scale projects have dominated headlines, the administration remains committed to supporting the businesses that have long driven Louisiana’s economy. The goal is to ensure that both legacy companies and new arrivals benefit from the state’s growing prosperity.
This comprehensive plan marks a significant step forward in aligning state resources, streamlining processes, and empowering Louisiana businesses to thrive in a competitive national landscape.
