This episode features a discussion on Nazi's and escapism invading Hollywood as Adolph Hitler gains power in Europe.  Join us and join in on the discussion! By the end of the episode only one movie (or more depending on how the discussion goes) will prevail and take home the actual Golden Boy.

Brendan Bell is a professional Graphic Designer, shape-shifting musician, artist, and amateur cinephile. In the late 90’s, he left art school to pursue a career in unpopular music. He cut his teeth and other body parts as a singer/percussionist in the (mostly) confusing genre bending band Grüvis Malt, and later played drums in an offshoot project, the action/adventure, garage-prog band Ebu Gogo. He released one album as leader of the sub-regional Gameboy Pop supergroup Jonny Classic and the Classic Johns, and a handful of music including a puppet-based music video with rapper Romen Rok, before going totally solo. He has since released a pair of instrumental albums under the moniker Belll. He received a BFA in Graphic Design in 2009 and started a professional career soon after as an in-house and freelance Designer and Illustrator. 

During the Covid lockdown, he realized that the he had been neglecting his love of cinema, and committed to watching as many films as possible moving forward. Since deciding to watch at least a film a day in November 2021, he has seen over 1000, logging and writing reviews of varying length and quality for each of them on the Letterboxd app. What began as a hobby has become a life-affirming mental-health practice.

Well educated, unemployed and unemployable Sarah Louise Reiter is the author of "7 Dances for a Secret Self" available on Model City Press. It's a book of memoir, essay and history, an instructional dance memoir designed to summon spirits with a series of traditional popular dances performed in a prescribed order. Jeff Somerville

For over a decade Jeff Somerville was a judge and then director of a screenwriting competition for a New England based film festival. After reading some good, and many, many bad scripts it was time to focus on his own work. One semester of an MFA in a Screenwriting program was quite enough of that for him so he decided he'd rather spend his remaining days educating the youth of America, or at least the youth of a moderately sized town in New England. Jeff also operated a small independent movie theater that prided itself on opening the Best Picture Oscar winner, whether that film deserved to win or not, for the better part of a decade. Today he coaches his daughters' softball teams and finds it a much more fulfilling experience. PS: The one best man speech our fine host Kenny is not proud of is the one he attempted at my wedding. He was co-best man and the plan was for one speech.  He performed admirably given mere seconds to prepare a speech of such magnitude.

Welcome to the fifth episode of The Hitchcock Challenge! 

Episode 5 features a deep dive into Hitchcock 's hard to find 5th film, Easy Virtue. This film was restored in 2012 by the BFI but is still UNRELEASED, at least in the states, in that form. But even the restored version is in pretty rough shape, so we are lucky to have what we do of it. The fella's break all of that down in detail in the episode.

This episode was made for our YouTube channel MoronicLogic and is presented here as it originally premiered.

This series is about reviving the excitement for these old movies, looking at them through a modern lens and actually challenging ourselves to step away from Netflix and corporate TV we normally love and consume. We do the research on the behind the scenes gossip, break down iconic and less than iconic scenes, give Maguffin reviews and talk WAY longer than anyone else you'll find online. Hitchcock history is discussed and we will add relevant research materials to the episode bio’s for your own further reading!

Gavin Castleton is a songwriter, producer, synth enthusiast, UX designer and father. He’s also a digital hoarder who has amassed what may be the world’s largest collection of Zombie films and Music documentaries.
