If you’ve seen anything about Mosaic, you’ve probably seen “Love. Jesus. Simple.” It’s pretty much everywhere, and we’re always looking for new places to put those three words. We’ve all had that moment when the task was too massive. So massive that we didn’t even know where to start. Today we’re learn about a time when Jesus had one of those moments. Jesus was doing some great work, yet there was still more than he could do alone. In the Father's plan, he was compelled to find a way to complete the overwhelming task in front of him. The truth is, Devoted has often been a tough series though James. Yet, in our final week of we look at his final message of encouragement to us. We’ve all had difficult moments where we didn’t know what we were going to do, and at just the right moment someone gave us a perfect word of encouragement. Earlier in Devoted, James explained how powerful our words are. He warned us that we can use them for great harm, but today we see how they can be equally used for good. James ends his book by showing us how to use our words to heal and give life.

Life will happen to all of us. All its ups. All its downs. All its successes and failures. Its betrayals and its friendships. And in the midst of all of that, pastor James has this advice: “Christian, be patient.” Patient? How do we deal with life’s worst days with patience, and what are we waiting for? Jesus. Most of us aren’t laughing when we think about planning our lives. In Boston especially people take planning very seriously. Listen this week as we consider the future, what God wants, and what James has to say about planning our lives.

James is like discipleship boot camp. It's that way because James understands that life is war. From page three of the Bible on, we are a people of war. The question is not, “Are we going to wage war?” The question is, “Who and what are we going to be fighting?” Life has no room for pacifists. James just wants to make sure we're fighting the right battles.

This week we look at two wisdoms. True Wisdom and false Wisdom. True wisdom and false wisdom can resemble each other. The person that follows true wisdom and the person that follows false wisdom can seem to end with similar success. But there is something underneath it all that separates these two wisdoms: Their means and their fruit. Listen this week as Pastor Ivey unpacks James' word on the two competing wisdoms.

This week James turns to our tongue and the power of words. He doesn’t offer a lot of practical application, but he does post flashing warning signs about that most dangerous organ. James paints such a vivid picture of our tongues that we don't have much of a problem finding the practicality. Listen this Sunday as Pastor Ivey speaks from James 3:1-12.
