Pastor Erik continues our Summer Playlist series by diving into Psalm 42. We learned what Psalm 42 has to say to those who feel spiritually DRY (verse 2), DISCOURAGED (verse 5), or DROWNING (verse 7). This is a CONDITION that we will ALL face at some point, so we need to know the common CAUSES and some CURES we can learn by looking at Psalm 42.

Something inside all of us longs to have someone love us for who we are. Something inside of us longs to be a part of a community that accepts and welcomes us. Something inside of us longs to live a life filled with purpose. Where do those longings come from? Pastor Erik dives into Psalm 86 to find the answers to those longings we all have!

Jesus is a shepherd who became a sheep so that you and I could be raised up and become a friend of God! He doesn’t want you to just be a sheep. He wants you to be his friend. He wants you to feel his love and life. He doesn’t just want obedience; he wants fellowship.

The Church isn’t a cruise ship; the church is a battleship!

You see- on a battleship, everyone on that ship knows why they are there and they all have a role to play. They have a MISSION. Jesus too, gave the Church a mission: to go into hostile territory, to rescue the captives, and to push back the enemy. Pastor Erik shares why at Mosaic we want to help everyone SERVE OTHERS.

As we study the life of Esther, it is apparent the she had the Favor of God on her life. But that's not to say that she had an easy life! Far from it! Pastor Erik dives into Esther chapter 8 so we can learn from Esther and her adopted father Mordecai on how to become good leaders and stewards of the blessings and favor of God.

The story of Esther is amazing, but imagine this: imagine the moment where King Ahasuerus looked at Haman and said, “Take this man and crucify him now!” Imagine if in that moment, Esther walked over to Haman and said, “I forgive you and I love you, and King, I will take his place and I’ll be crucified for my enemy, so that he can become one of God’s people.” That would have been amazing...but that’s what Jesus did for us!

It is unlikely that any of us will ever be in a situation as dire as Esther, but every one of us faces Defining Moments in our own lives! Some defining moments come unexpectedly and pass quickly, yet with far-reaching consequences. Pastor Erik dives into the third and fourth chapter of the Book of Esther as we learn how to miss what God wants to teach us when we face Defining Moments in our own lives.

Pastor Erik continued our series "Esther: God's Perfect Work through Imperfect People." We looked at Esther 2 and learned that like Esther who was adopted by Mordecai, those who follow Jesus are adopted into God's family. Although Mordecai was an imperfect father and failed Esther, our Heavenly Father will never let us down or fail us!
