Jesus teaches about prayer.

Having taught people, healed the sick, miraculously fed the hungry, now Jesus turns toward Jerusalem and calls us to the cost of following him.

Jesus tells the people around him a parable of seed. In response to questions, he unpacks the meaning that presses home the point - hearing the good news.

Jesus has declared good news across the country side. And as he moves from place to place, he works out that good news with regard to authority and access.

Jesus has arrived to reach out to those in need, to heal those who are sick, to set free those who are captive to sin. But that doesn't make everyone happy.

Luke focuses our attention on Jesus at the beginning of his ministry where he drops the mic with a quote from the Old Testament.

What is this guy doing out in the desert and what does it have to do with me? Luke gives an answer as he connects the ministry of John to God's plan for redemption.
