Tomorrow is Juneteenth, a long overdue federal holiday observed since 1866. This weekend (and every day quite frankly), let's reflect on the state of our country as experienced by Black and Brown Americans, from the inception of our nation to the present day. Let's commemorate those who have fought for progress, engage in conversations about race and those lingering tenets of racial oppression, and let's promise to continue the hard work for equity and true independence from deeply rooted racism in our country.
To white community members and to any who wonder what it is we do on Juneteenth, observe this holiday by listening, learning, lifting up, and loving Black and Brown people in our community and communities beyond our own. Happy Juneteenth. #BlackLivesMatter #IndyHall
