Motel Hell

Another week, another nightmare. This episode Ben the Beardo and Dick Fetti discuss haunted places and the ghosts that inhabit them. First the Dick discusses the Parker House Hotel in Boston and the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia. Then the Beard gets into the haunted history of the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado. But first the boys review the on-subject found footage film "Grave Encounters" by The Vicious Brothers.

This week on G4 the Beard jumps into two Best Buy recommendations for Yakuza Kiwami and Cuphead. Then Dick Fetti takes a trip to harsh noise hell to bring back Disco Box recommendations for Masonna, Selected Killing and MXM. Enjoy!

Disco Box Recommendations:

Masonna - Noskl In Ana CD - Alchemy Records 1994

Selected Killing - Secret Tombstone 3"CD - Freak Animal Records 2019

MXM - Flesh-Biting Paedophiles Cassette/CD - MSNP 1995, Industrial Recollections 2013

It's time to protect your pinky fingers and learn how to gamble, this week Ben the Beardo and Dick Fetti present a rough guide to the Yakuza film genre. The boys give a brief history of the genre but primarily discuss their 5 personal favorite Yakuza films and how they fit into the genre. Specifically, the boys discuss Masahiro Shinoda's "Pale Flower"; Takashi Miike's "Fudoh: The New Generation"; Miike's "Dead or Alive"; Takeshi Kitano's "Outrage"; and finally Kitano's "Sonatine".

After a Roman holiday, Dick Fetti and Ben the Beardo are back at it again to sling more recommendations for your eye and ear-holes. This week the Beard's Best Buy is a poster from Gary Pullin aka Ghoulish Gary, a talented poster artist. Then Dick Fetti hits the Disco Box to pull out some noise rock, avant-folk and sludge metal recommendations. Join us!

It's not The Onion and it's not science fiction; it's another dose of real life terror aka the news! It's time to take stock of this waking nightmare with the boys from Motel Hell. Lots of people die, a bunch get arrested, everyone laughs!

And in the spirit of blurring the lines between reality and fiction, the Beard and the Dick watch and review Ruggero Deodato's infamous "Cannibal Holocaust" (1980) to kick things off.

It's time for another round of Disco Box recommendations and Best Buys here at BDMFT! This week Dick Fetti returns to the well of Japanese psych rock, travels to Finland to review another record by noise rockers Throat and ends in the USofA with the defunct Drunkdriver. Then the Beard recommends Mark Millar's "Superman: Red Son" on DC Comics Elseworlds imprint. So beat the heat and listen to this super-cool audio treat!

This week Ben the Beardo helms Motel Hell's investigation of the unsolved 2011 Dupont de Ligonnès family murders and disappearance. The Beardo goes through a timeline of crucial events from before, during and after the murders and gives his theory on the culprit. But before that, the Dick and the Beard savagely review the 2008 New French Extremity film "Martyrs" by Pascal Laugier.

This week Ben the Beardo recommends "The Fly: Ultimate Collection" produced by Via Vision, a five disc BluRay set collecting all the flies you'll ever need. The Dick Fetti provides a recap of his recent two-week touring experience with Cooter aka Bill Cooterson and J. Peterson. Things get k-razy.

Dick Fetti and Motel Hell want to thank everyone who helped make the tour possible! You're the real MVPs!

This week Dick Fetti and Ben the Beardo revisit the topic of urban legends. Dick Fetti provides an exhaustive overview of urban legends relating to drugs and the Beardo covers "The Licked Hand" and myths from the dark web. Unfortunately some of these legends are based in reality. Listen in to find out which ones.

But first the boys review the 1974 film "Peopletoys" aka "Devil Times Five" aka "The Horrible House on the Hill" by Sean MacGregor and David Sheldon. Many adults are murdered by insane children. It's great!

Also, apologies for the audio quality this week, we'll get the dog barking and distortion fixed for next time.

After a three week hiatus due to Dick Fetti's touring obligations for Concrete Mascara, Motel Hell and the Bearded Dick's Musical Fun Time are back! This week The Beard and The Dick gush about all things Japanese (huge surprise...), focusing on the Japanese psych rock scene and the new indie game, Katana Zero. So tune in and drop out!
