In the last episode, Leslie interviewed Langley Korepanova, who in the midst of several pieces of wisdom shared a story in which she was at first off-put and offended by a mom who thought differently than her. After consideration, however, Langley came to see the other woman's difference as a gift and strength in the lives of our children.
If you ever struggle to embrace different viewpoints in your community of people helping you raise your kiddos, this episode will I hope encourage you to consider God's intention in creating so many different people with so many different viewpoints. To quote the classic cliche–it truly takes a village to raise a child. But, will we embrace the village we're given, or will we hoard the raising of our children in fear that a different viewpoint or approach might be more harmful than helpful?
If you missed my conversation with Langley, make sure to check out episode 17 to get the context for this episode.
For a more basic conversation on the need for community in our mothering journey, check out episodes 3 and 4.

Last week, Caitlin Mallery shared her mindset shift from intellectual understanding of the scriptures to finding comfort in God's Word as key to keeping her seeking truth in this way. In this episode, Leslie walks listeners through a familiar passage of scripture and then uses guided imagery and reflection questions to help the scriptures travel from the intellect into the heart. Toward the end of the episode, Leslie shares a repeatable process for finding comfort in the scriptures as well has her favorite comforting passages.

After our conversation last week, my husband and I brainstormed five tips for how to have meaningful conversations with your spouse about parenting. These are the things we've learned in the last few years of transitioning into parenthood, and parenting 2 under 2 in the middle of a pandemic. We're not perfect, but we have learned a few valuable things that have helped us grow in meaningful connection.

In honor of Father's Day, Leslie sat down with her husband Christian to chat a bit about fatherhood, the differences between fatherhood and motherhood, and even processed a parenting disagreement in real time. If you feel like you and your spouse speak different languages when it comes to parenting, you're not alone. This episode is intended to give the fathers in the room a voice–some space to name their experiences–and to offer some ideas for how to have that conversation about parenting with your own spouse.
