SUVs are afoot at the 2023 Chicago Auto Show, and Super Bowl commercials from automakers are hitting the airwaves. We talk about the updated 2024 Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross, the next-gen 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, the refreshed BMW X5 and X6, and the updated 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer. We also compare the Mustang Dark Horse interior with an entry-level EcoBoost model, and we revisit some of our favorite automaker Super Bowl commercials.

Steve Ewing and John Neff join us as guests this week. Ewing recently got the chance to drive the rally-inspired Porsche 911 Dakar. Neff has spent months on the road with a Ford F-150 Hybrid and a travel trailer. He has experienced a lot in that time. Also, we check out the newly debuted Mazda CX-90 and Land Rover Range Rover Velar.

The new BMW M3 CS is here, featuring 543 horsepower with all-wheel drive and a carbon-fiber diet. Audi Activesphere Concept shows off its mini pickup-truck bed, and Porsche pays homage to the 356 with the Vision 357 Concept. We see images of the new Toyota Tacoma for South America, and a camouflaged prototype pickup spotted with a Fiat Strada rekindle rumors of a new midsize Ram truck.

There are some big debuts this week. The Chevy Corvette E-Ray brings electrification and all-wheel drive to the sports car for the first time. The Aston Martin DBS 770 is the brand's ultimate grand tourer, and it only plans to make 499 of them. The Mazda MX-30 R-EV is the return of the rotary. There are some fresh details about the Hyundai Kona's powertrain. Plus, a company is making limousine and hearse versions of the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

InsideEVs Senior Editor and State Of Charge host Tom Moloughney stops by to talk about the Ram Revolution concept truck, F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, and how the full-size EV pickup segment is shaping up for the future. We preview the hybrid Corvette E-Ray thanks to a recent teaser video from Chevrolet, and we discuss this year’s North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year winners, featuring the Lightning, Kia EV6, and Acura Integra.

CES 2023 is happening, and there are some big automotive debuts. Ram showed off a concept for its upcoming electric pickup. VW revealed the ID.7 EV sedan with electroluminescent camo. The BMW Vision Dee is the brand's showcase of future technology, and the Chrysler Synthesis Demonstrator is how that company imagines the cockpits of upcoming models.

Our final podcast for 2022 features the next-gen 2024 Hyundai Kona, coming soon in standard, hybrid,  N Line, and EV models. Ram closes out the year with a 1500 TRX Havoc special edition truck. And we look back at some of our favorite Rambling About Cars podcasts from the past year.
