“Abishai – David’s Natural Brother and Brother in the Lord” – 1st Samuel 26 – Brother Jonah Lowrance. Brother Jonah teaches about what a blessing it is when our natural family members are also part of the family of God and devoted to His service.

“Righteous Abel” • Hebrews 11:4 – Elder Bryce Lowrance. The Apostle’s first example from the history of the people of God who walked by faith is Abel. In this lesson we see that Abel was righteous because he was part of the everlasting covenant. When Abel walked by faith, he had a testimony to his own conscience that he was part of this covenant. When we walk by faith, we experience the same assurance, hope, and peace as Abel.

“Living By Faith” • Hebrews 11:1-3 – Elder Bryce Lowrance. In Chapter 11, the Apostle continues his encouragement to draw nigh unto God in fellowship rather than drawing back. The chapter begins with an amazing definition of faith. The Hebrew Christians, as well as all born again children of God, possess the Holy Spirit which gives them faith. This intrinsic trust looks for a hope outside of this fallen world. We see in these first few verses that faith allows us to see and believe that the universe was created in order by the Son of God, Jesus Christ. And, if this faith is in us, we can use it to live in hope of glory despite the present troubles of life.

“Forsaking” • Hebrews 10:25-39 – Elder Bryce Lowrance. The writer of Hebrews reached the pinnacle of his argument on the superiority of Jesus to all things in the first part of chapter 10. His ultimate point is that God has now blessed man with the opportunity to worship Him with full understanding of Who He is and what He has done for the elect through the finished work of Jesus Christ. He now offers a stern warning to those who leave off regular worship of Jesus in the public assembly. The Lord considers the public worship of the Son to be the most important thing that man can do. We should view it with the same high regard.

“Therefore” • Hebrews 10:19-25 – Elder Bryce Lowrance. Having spent nine and half chapters proving the superiority of Christ in all things and showing that Jesus is our great High Priest, the Mediator of our salvation, and the sufficient offering for the sins of God’s people, the Apostle Paul now shows how we should respond to this information. Having such blessings from God, let us respond in grateful service.

“How a Believer Ought to Act” • 1st Samuel 25; Matthew 5:9; & Romans 5:1-6 – Brother Jonah Lowrance. Following the death of Samuel, David is mistreated by a man named Nabal. David decides to wipe out Nabal and all the men of his house. However, Abigail chooses to do the right thing and bring peace between them. Abigail’s name means “the joy of my father” which is exactly what we are when we try to make peace. As it is written: ” Blessed are the peacemakers for the shall be called the children of God.”

“Jesus – The Antitype” • Hebrews 10:1-18 – Elder Bryce Lowrance. In this chapter, the Apostle Paul reviews his arguments of how Jesus Fulfills all the types and shadows of the Old Testament and fulfills all the law for us. The law only brings sins to remembrance. Jesus Christ delivers us so that God remembers our sins no more. The law could never make any man perfect. Jesus Christ has forever perfected the elect of God! These wonderful conclusions show us our security in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

“Our Great Mediator” • Hebrews 9:15-28 – Elder Bryce Lowrance. Our salvation is complete in Jesus Christ. This is made clear by the Apostle Paul when he shows us that Jesus wrote the testament of Eternal Salvation before the world began. Jesus certified the testimony by His death on the death. Jesus rose from the dead and mediates the testimony in the new birth, justification, and eternal security. What comfort we have that nothing was left to man to finish the work. It truly is finished!

“Saul’s Repentance” • 1st Samuel 24 – Brother Jonah Lowrance. In his continued survey of the life of David, Brother Jonah teaches about how King Saul realizes that David has been acting more righteous than he has.

“A Greater and More Perfect Tabernacle” • Hebrews 9:6-14 – Elder Bryce Lowrance. In this fourth sermon on the superior of Jesus over the old tabernacle, Elder Lowrance shows how the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross frees us to worship God in thankfulness and live our lives for others. When we realize that we are set free from the law of sin and death in Jesus, our conscience is free to worship God in spirit and in truth.

“Brotherly Conduct” • 1st Samuel 24 – Brother Jonah Lowrance Continuing in his historical account of the life of David, Brother Jonah teaches how fellow children of God should treat one another. In particular, obedient disciples should continue to love and show compassion toward those fellow children of God who are not following the will of God.

“Cherubim and The Mercy Seat” • Hebrews 9:5 – Elder Bryce Lowrance Part of understanding how Jesus is a better tabernacle than the one Moses built is to see how all of the elements and ceremonies in the old tabernacle pointed toward the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. In this sermon, Elder Bryce shows the wonders of the omnipresence, omniscience, and omnipotence of God represented in the Cherubim over the ark. One of the most amazing things to see in this image is that all the power of God looks at the mercy seat for justification. This image shows that God sees salvation complete in His Son. Our hope is in the finished work of Jesus Chris plus nothing.

“A Better Tabernacle” Part 2 • Hebrews 9:3-5 – Elder Bryce Lowrance The Old Testament Covenant of Worship taught the children of Israel and us that perfection was required in order to be in fellowship with a Holy God. The various items in the tabernacle and temple were pictures of Jesus Christ. Elder Lowrance continues his explanations of the types and shadows in the Holiest of Holies discussing the golden scepter, the manna, Aaron’s rod, the ark, and the tables of the covenant.
