Beyond the Scales is an 8-part podcast created by Carrie Eckersley, the PCN Dietitian, for patients in our Primary Care Network who are living with excess weight. 

This series aims to overcome these barriers and help you achieve your goals.

There are 8 Episodes, with one bonus episode to support you going forward. 

All episodes are under 5 minutes in duration and are designed to be practical, honest, and emotionally sensitive.

The Podcasts cover key topics such as:

• The real-life factors that affect weight (e.g. stress, sleep, shame, support)
• What NHS services are available
• How to start making sustainable changes without pressure or guilt

The tone is warm, respectful, and accessible, reflecting the PCN’s commitment to person-centred care.

We know many people living with excess weight avoid appointments, feel judged, or don’t engage with services.
We also know that shame and stigma are barriers to health, not motivators.

This podcast is for anyone who wants to understand more about how weight and health connect — without shame, without pressure, and without being told to “just try harder.”
