What a fascinating take on life improvement. Mrs. Guylay is a successful driven person, as evident from very personal, often funny, sometimes poignant, stories. Mantras is her realization that her successes often come at the expense of other aspects of her life. Her focus and drive is a fantastic and exploitable business asset, and she shares with us her decade long search for a way to distribute that drive across all the aspects of her life. The author is not trying to be better at business, or motherhood, or marriage, or enjoying the sport she loves while also looking up to see the view from the top of her mountain, she is trying to show us how to improve ALL of it. It's not a have your cake and eat it too perspective, you have to read the book to understand the care and research she has done to achieve happiness and balance.
Mantras gives practical information as well as philosophical views. There are links to nutritional sites, statistics on U.S. obesity, childhood obesity, diet related illness, and recipes to a healthier lifestyle (from both time and nutritional perspectives). She also shares how to take her nutritional lessons to schools and young people in positive and fun ways.
I do not ski, and I do not plan to start, but I will be incorporating aspects of Mountain Mantras into the applicable parts of my life. I suggest you read the first page and let gravity take you all the way to the end of this wonderful book.
