Join us in exploring the powerful journey of faith as we delve into the story of the apostles from the book of Acts. Witness the transformation of ordinary individuals, often considered 'unqualified,' into bold witnesses of Jesus' resurrection. In this episode, we discuss the importance of waiting on God's timing and the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. Through prayer and unity, the early church found empowerment and purpose, challenging us today to step into our spiritual inheritance and embrace the mission of spreading God's word. In Genesis 15, God makes a covenant with Abram, but before the promise is fulfilled, scavenger birds descend on the sacrificial offering. Abram chases them away, a seemingly small act that holds deep spiritual significance. Just as Abram had to protect God's covenant, we too must guard our faith against distractions and doubts that seek to undermine God's promises. Drawing from The Lion King, the sermon explores how shame and fear, like Scar’s lies to Simba, can push us away from God’s call. But just as Abram stood firm, we are called to trust in God’s faithfulness, knowing that His promises endure beyond our present struggles.

Jesus’ ascension is a pivotal moment in the Christian faith, marking His exaltation and the continuation of God’s plan. In Luke 24, after blessing His disciples, Jesus is taken up into heaven, leaving them filled with joy and worship. This event parallels Elijah’s ascension in 2 Kings 2, where Elisha witnesses his master taken into heaven and receives a double portion of his spirit. Likewise, Jesus’ ascension prepares the way for the coming of the Holy Spirit, who empowers believers to continue His mission. Just as the Old Testament points to Christ, the ascension affirms His divine authority and reign. It is not merely an ending but a commissioning—calling us to proclaim His kingdom with joy, knowing He reigns and intercedes for us.

After His resurrection, Jesus appears to His disciples and opens their minds to understand the Scriptures, revealing that His suffering, death, and resurrection were always God’s plan. He commissions them to proclaim repentance and forgiveness to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem. But before they go, He instructs them to wait for the promised Holy Spirit—the power they will need to be His witnesses. This passage challenges us to see Jesus in all of Scripture, embrace our role as witnesses, and rely on God’s timing and power rather than our own strength. Just as the disciples needed the Spirit to fulfill their mission, we too must depend on Him to boldly proclaim the gospel. As we reflect, we should ask God to open our minds to His Word and empower us to faithfully share the good news of Christ with the world.
