To wrap up Binge month, Lauren treats Greg to a triple feature focusing on ancient Romans in Britain with the films King Arthur (2004), Centurion (2010), and The Eagle (2011). As we compare and discuss these three films all loosely focused around Hadrian’s Wall (or as Greg calls it, The Great Wall of England) we examine the dangers of trusting local tour guides, third act romantic arcs, the pros and cons of Roman military careers and why you really should respect your nation’s borders.

Greg’s been wishing on a star and it finally came true as he was able to show Lauren the 10th Kingdom miniseries. In this tale about two New Yorkers traveling through fantasy-land, we puzzle over the deeper backstories of our main characters, we discuss the unmade sequel and the unlikely hood of Woof and Virginia’s ‘Happily Ever After’ and Greg finds a veritable goldmine of world building with a riddle toting frog. This week we are reviewing and scoring Octopussy. Unfortunately a few members of the draft were unable to make it to the recording due to various issues but we were still able to get together and record this episode with two Cullen from FlicksXrayed and Matt from Moral Combat. We will be releasing these episodes every other week on Saturday so stay tuned for future episodes but for now, please enjoy our conversations and scorings of Octopussy. Music by http://www.twinmusicom.org/

This month we are doing a series binge and Lauren’s pick takes us back to the golden age of Hollywood with The Thin Man series. As we examine these Pre-Hays Code Comedy Mysteries, we discuss the real-world reasons for the general decline in drinking and flirtatious banter, the obtuse origin of the franchise’s title, and Greg gets triggered by a crotchety murder victim. Music by http://www.twinmusicom.org/

Players draft various characters and music score from the films of James Bond as portrayed by Sir Roger Moore. After listening to the draft, we encourage listeners at home to conduct their own draft and play along with us. You can find the scoring sheet on Movie Date Night’s Facebook and Twitter page where you can post your draft picks and scores.

Greg’s pick for Fairy Tale month takes us to the animation with 2005’s Hoodwinked! In this low-budget fractured fairy tale, we examine exactly why the animation isn’t up to par with its 2005 counterparts as well as discuss the ‘evils of capitalism’, forgetful Furry Bakers, and the rise and fall of Andy Dick. Once upon a time, Lauren showed Greg not once but two Snow White films from 2012, “Snow White and the Huntsman” and “Mirror Mirror”. As our heroes viewed these fantastic fables, they curiously conversed over both films making of Snow White into a warrior princess, disturbing digital dwarves, and strongly stylistic set pieces. In the end, they came together as one to try to score each film for it’s key characters to determine which Snow White is fairest of them all. Music is 64 Sunday by Twinsmusic.com

Greg’s out of this world Space film is Disney’s 1997 RocketMan. In this mission to mars comedy starring Harland Williams, we discuss the decline of the space genre in kids films, we critique the mismanagement of this movie’s ‘monkey’, and we explore why Comedy samplers simply don’t work.
