Movie Deja Vu

It's finally springtime, so of course Jon and Shady decided to discuss the Internet's favorite Christmas movies - Die Hard and Die Hard 2, which may or may not be officially subtitled Die Harder. Jon revels in his love for cheesy action flicks of the directed-by-Renny-Harlin variety, while Shady once again gets a chance to overanalyze some very straightforward themes! But outside of featuring the early adventures of cowboy cop John McClane, do these movies actually have all that much in common? Even special guest Molly (Jon's parents' adorable dog) has to share her thoughts on the matter!

Hey hey, faithful listeners! After an extended break, Jon and Shady reunite to compare notes from the American Ballet Academy and Camp Ovation, which you may recognize as the settings for turn-of-the-millennium era theatre kid classics Center Stage and Camp! Will our plucky heroes find freedom and acceptance on the road to artistic glory? Or will heartbreak, bruised egos, and rejection stand in their way? Happy Holidays you filthy animals!  Jon and Shady explore three out of the six Home Alone movies and ask the question: How are these kids being left home in Chicago and their parents don't know?  Delving into the classic Home Alone, Jon can't wrap his head around Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and Home Sweet Home Alone, and Shady kind of plays devil's advocate with the latter by praising them trying their hardest.  The two also huffed some of that Christmas cheer that's in Hallmark movies to get through this episode.

EPISODE 50 EVERYONE!!  We wanted to celebrate this milestone by doing something a little different: we focused on three of the bajillion movie versions of Louisa May Alcott's famous pseudo-autobiographical novel Little Women.  This was Jon's first exposure to this, and Shady was overjoyed that Jon got to experience this story.  And seriously: don't watch the modern day version - Jo's a monster.

Welcome to CAMP!  Well, not camp as in over-the-top, but camp as in you're gonna die by a masked killer.  Jon and Shady traverse the horror subgenre of slasher movies taking place at a summer camp, while obsessing over the Fear Street trilogy.  They discuss the final girls, add another puzzle piece to their Fear Street watch, and are blown away at the amount of similarities between these two movies.

Netflix graced us with some pretty awesome horror movies that Shady wanted to talk about because they are very referential to other movies.  In part one of their Fear Street saga, Jon and Shady travel back to 1994, the time of AOL chat rooms, beepers, phones with extra long cords, and a curse on Shadyside, Shady's town that she 100% owns.  Using Scream as the one-to-one comparison, does Fear Street follow the '90s horror tropes?
