In a society that has been torn apart by war, those in positions of authority have determined that the new society works better in factions, there are twelve districts (factions) in which people are separated. Everyone is in charge of the production of something that benefits everyone. Every year, through random selection, two citizens are chosen to compete in the Hunger Games. In the rare event that someone wants to replace a candidate, he/she can volunteer for that spot. Of the twelve districts, there are a total of twenty-four that will compete. Upon entering the arena, the game begins as soon as the counter hits zero. It's a true kill or be killed scenario. The arena is an oversized video game, controlled by a group of people whose only job is to observe and control the environment. They have no control over the candidates, but they can and do make their lives difficult. As the number decreases, the aggression increases making it harder and harder to survive. The rules change towards the end of the game and that changes everything. Because of this change, there can be more than one winner. The games have shown some unlikely alliances, alliances that go beyond the factions or the game. Ultimately the winner (s) are crowned and life can return to normal... Or can it? Even though the games are over (this year)... The story of those involved is not. Who will the winner(s) be? How will their lives be changed? Is this the end of their story? I guess we'll find out... This entire story is somewhat barbaric, the factions feel like work camps instead of societies. The arena is a giant CGI interactive video game, controlled by some, played by others. A unique idea but with a lot of room for improvement.

What a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive, those may not be my words but wow... they apply to tenet in a way you might not expect. 

Original Review:

Tenet is complicated and captivating in its presentation. The story itself combines international espionage with something that feels like inception (except with time instead of dreams). The secret to what is happening lies within the name. Imagine if you will a time-bending 007 and you might come close to grasping what is happening here, the problems, however, lie within its presentation. You'll have to really pay attention to the little details to follow exactly what is happening.

This all centers around a singular mission and that mission involves multiple pieces from different characters and story directions that all bring it together. With all of the pieces involved, it becomes more than a little bit confusing. The more you watch it (repeat), the clearer it becomes but there will be those who will have had enough after once. Those who want to watch/rewatch it will find more and more to understand what is happening. It's a breakthrough idea that was done in a way that has never been done before.

Is it ahead of its time or simply out of time... That's up to you.

An unconventional story addressing a touchy subject matter.

A deep story that deals with autism and friendship in an entirely different way. Autism by itself is difficult to understand, for those that have it, as well as their loved ones. They want to communicate and yet are not always able to in the way that most understand. Oliver uses smartphones and tablets to communicate. These devices have given him the freedom that he was so desperate for.

Something else that he was desperate for was a friend, he used to have some friends but after an incident, they didn't play together anymore. Soon, Oliver would meet a new friend via his devices. Oliver saw a lot of himself in his new friend and wanted to help him. Little did he know that Larry wanted much more than to be Oliver's friend. Larry wanted Oliver to be his only friend. A friendship that would last forever.

When Larry's true intentions were revealed, Oliver's parents would do anything and everything necessary to protect him. The more they tried to protect him from Larry, the more persistent Larry became. This friendship would become a fight for what they hold most dear. What will happen to Oliver? What will happen to Larry? Are you really ready to learn the truth?

Imagine being real but not having a reality, that's where Guy finds himself. Come along on his adventure to find what is really real. 

Original Review:

Everything is awesome. Guy lives a simple life, he has everything he needs and wants... That is until he decides that there must be more. Why the sudden change of heart? As with most stories, it's a girl. He sees her and knows that there is something different about her, from that moment on, he knows that he needs more. When he finally is able to see what the world really is around him, he struggles with the idea that his reality isn't reality at all. The girl (molotovgirl) is in search of something that was taken from her. She will need help to get to it and Guy is the only one who can help her. The more time that she spends with Guy, she realizes that there's much more to him than 1's and 0's. That realization will open up a world of possibilities. She'll have to reach out to her friends in the real world to make sense of this. Will she be able to find what she's looking for before it's too late or will their work be lost forever? This story is far from original as it's a mashup of The Lego Movie, Ready Player One, and the Truman Show. It definitely has content for all audiences but is best for those 8 and up. Some of the language might be a bit much for younger audiences but that's at your discretion. If you're wanting something fun for all, this might be what you're looking for. As it's tech-centered, that may limit some of its audience but the story still widens the reach. Simply put, just come expecting something fun and you won't be disappointed.

This continuation of the story from Captain Marvel does something that is difficult to do. It surpasses the original. Mind you, there are still some elements worked in, tying in the "wokeness" to the new ideas but it's no longer the primary focus of the story. Here we see something refreshing and for cat lovers in particular, this one will soon be a favorite for many. If you were hesitant to check this out because of Captain Marvel, it definitely is worth the price of the ticket.

Marvel superheroes have captured hearts and minds for generations. This is no different, though this is drastically different from what you might expect. It won't be for everyone but it definitely will have an audience. 

Original Review:

A young trainee in the Kree Space Force is about to face her most challenging mission yet. In an attempt to rescue a fellow Kree, she will find herself at the mercy of those that she is fighting against. Her attempt at escape will leave her on a strange planet in search of answers that don't seem to make any sense. Little does she know that she has more of a connection to this planet than she could have imagined. As her pursuit continues, she'll find friends and foes in unlikely places. One of them will help her in an unexpected way by helping her reconnect with a piece of her past. Will reconnecting with herself help to unlock the secrets that she so desperately desires? Or will it only lead to more questions? This story isn't as simple as a story of her life though. It's a story of those in seek of equal treatment and social justice in the midst of chaos. Doing so crosses a boundary that Marvel hasn't addressed before. There are many that will cheer and celebrate these milestones, there are just as many though that will be equally appalled at the presentation. Her story is much more than it seems. Whether or not it's for you is something that only you can decide. Where will the MCU go from here? We'll have to wait and see.
