Movie Show Theater: The Podcast

Hey friends and happy 2026! We're starting the year with the wetest and slimiest movie we could think of! It's GREMLINS and it was the first time Jimmy had ever seen it!

Do you remember this iconic movie poster? I bet you had the soundtrack or had a friend who did. We re-watched this cult classic from 1999 and we're so pleased to report it's WAY better than we remembered, but then again, I was 15 when I watched it and understood so little about the story. You can stream it for $4 on Amazon Prime or iTunes if you need a refresh then join us for this episode!

This 1996 horror movie COMPLETELY resuscitated the slasher genre, reignited Wes Craven’s career, and introduced screenwriter Kevin Williamson (Scream 2, Scream 3, I Know What You Did Last Summer, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, The Faculty, Teaching Mrs. Tingle, Cursed)! It's also responsible for injecting the 'Who's the killer' trope back into horror as well as using humor to breathe humanity into the story's characters. Also it's BRUTAL even by today's standards. Also Scream 1-4 are all streaming on MAX! Can you tell we love this movie? Music composer and fellow scary movie buddy CJ Johnson joins me to help break it all down!

After recently watching a 25th anniversary theatrical screening of The Mummy (a movie I already loved), I haven't been able to shut up about it (just ask my wife). I think it's time we had a little talk about what made this movie work so well in 1999 and why it not only holds up 25 years later, but is actually a better constructed story than most modern movies releasing in 2024! Join me shall you?

It’s been ALMOST 25 years since this cult classic was released & we thought it was finally time to determine if Donnie Darko is deep or dumb or possibly BOTH?! How does it hold up in 2024? The answer might surprise you! I connect with my original podcast crew, Stu & Ben to help me figure out what EXACTLY this movie is about. We also uncovered a few things you might not know about the pretentious mystery that is Donnie Darko.

Oh look, my wife has hijacked the podcast again so get ready to change your tune on this widely misunderstood 2004 musical from one of the weirdest and most appropriate creative collaborations of all time: Joel Schumacher and Andrew Lloyd Weber! Did you like this movie? Did you NOT like this movie? If you answered yes, this episode is for YOU!

American Movie is a documentary released in 1999 and has changed my life in many ways, I wish I was kidding! This heartbreaking, harrowing, and hilarious journey into one man's quest to make a short film won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 1999 and is truly unlike anything I've ever seen!

It's our New Year's Eve show so OBVIOUSLY we're talking favorites here. Director/Producer Corey Gilbert & Composer/DP CJ Johnson join me with their #1 favorites for the year. It was such a great year for movies, so let's get crack in!

Let's ring in the summer season with this gross, dark, masterpiece of a film. Co-Owner of P3 Mediaworks production company Corey Gilbert joins me to pick apart this 90's classic from David Fincher! After watching it 8+ times, I still pick up tidbits of foreshadowing and so much layered storytelling that just begs to be picked apart, so let's go do just that! And hey.. thanks for the support!

I'm spotlighting FRESH today as a beacon of hope that original and unique storytelling IS coming out of Hollywood (AKA Toronto and Atlanta). This was the best kind of "that movie" I've seen in years. I absolutely loved this movie and I want to explain exactly what made this movie stand out to me. Got 20 minutes?
