Today comes from a slightly different angle as I take a plunge into
the unknown depths of solo podcasting. And there's never been a better vessel than one of favorite films of all time, as I've seen it at least twenty times. Is that weird? Is that unnecessary? Probably yes, but there's so much here to appreciate. Especially considering I am NOT a Adam Sandler fan. Like, at all. I tried watching The Do Over, just for funzies. No fun was had, but Punch Drunk Love is so endearing, fascinating, and fun to watch. Paul Thomas Anderson directed this just before starting on There Will Be Blood, so this didn't get a whole lot of attention. However, Adam Sandler DID receive a Golden Globe nomination for his performance, and I say well deserved. The story is great, but the music and color tell a different story just below the surface. If you've never seen it, get a hold of me and I will find a (free and legal) way to get you to it. It's THAT important to me. The story, cinematography, and especially the score by Jon Brion make this movie one of my absolute favorite films that I can truly watch at any time. Maybe you agree? Thanks for listening to Movie Show Theater!
