Movie Trap

Boruff's choice for best horror film from 1969-1980 is the timeless classic of Celtic horror, The Wicker Man. Carlsen finds a link to his favorite band, Neurosis. The fact that Boruff picked a Vashti Bunyan-style folk-horror-musical is not lost on Zach.

It's wonderful! But will it win?

Tim Talbott was nice enough to sit down with us to discuss the writing process for The Stanford Prison Experiment (2015)

Tim Talbott's previous credits include South Park, Chicago Fire, and Shooter. He also co-wrote the Black list script, "Ball's Out"

Tim's IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0848003/

The Movie Trap get to see what of our thoughts were valid and what were conjecture about the production of this script and film.

Boruff bends the rules a bit on "bad cops" to introduce the Movie Trap to a fact based depiction of Philip Zimbardo's Stanford Prison Experiment.
We debate approaches and tactics that the filmmakers might have used in the production. Zach wonders about the difficulty of working with a real life person telling a story that shows that person behaving poorly. Then we talk about cops and The Prisoner starring Patrick McGoohan.

Round one!

Current winner Zach Powers picked our new challenge theme of "bad cops". His pick to start game is "Blindspotting" starring Daveed Diggs (Hamilton, Kimmy Schmidt) and Rafael Casal(HBO’s Def Poetry). The film directed by Carlos López Estrada and written by the two stars is a semi-autobiographical account of friends struggling with gentrification and complex racial divides in Oakland California. Ethan Embry shoots someone in the back in the first 10 minutes. Can you guess what his profession is?

Following the theme of being trapped inside, Carlsen chose The Lighthouse by Robert Eggers
