April 20, 2025 Episode 559 – Drop / Sinners
New Episode of the Moviewallas Podcast!
This week, our trio of cinephiles — Joe, Rashmi, and Yazdi — dives into two buzzing titles from opposite sides of the streaming and cinema spectrum: DROP and SINNERS.
First up, we dissect DROP — the sleek, suspenseful thriller on Netflix that caught us pleasantly off guard. Megan Fahey nails a performance full of tension and restrained panic in this tightly-wound restaurant-set mystery. Is it perfect? Not quite. But it’s one of the most entertaining thrillers we’ve seen in a while.
Then, we head to the big screen for SINNERS — Ryan Coogler’s latest powerhouse starring Michael B. Jordan (times two!), Hailee Steinfeld, and a stellar ensemble. This genre-defying cinematic experience had all three hosts full of praise. Blending historical depth, horror elements, and musical richness, SINNERS is bold, sexy, ambitious, and unmissable. Definitely see it on the biggest screen possible!

Quick streaming picks:

– One of Them Days (Netflix)
