This father day special focuses on Marissa Rodriguez's, the author of Whispers of Me, as she embarks on a journey in building relationship with her father.

Marissa has a beautiful soul who has built the strength to be vulnerable in her book, on social media, and in this interview. She takes us on an emotional journey with finding her father and how she talked about the struggle of re-wiring her mindset and letting go of the belief that she was abandoned. Which is difficult because for the longest time she believed that her father didn’t want to be part of her life. 

Like she said in our interview her relationship with her mother has been strained from her decision to build a relationship with her father. She talked about how difficult it is to have lost one parent but yet gained another. When all we truly want as someone’s child is to have both parents support us throughout our lives. When we are young we want to believe that our parents are our hero’s and that they are unbreakable and what they say or do is right.  But in reality our parents are human and that they have their own struggles they’re going through, and that insecurities and how they deal with different situations isn’t perfect. And unfortunately sometimes their actions and decisions, whether those decisions were made out of love, have unforeseen consequences to us, as their child.
