I love folktales, so today I'm going to share an extra episode.  This is a Cherokee folktale that takes place in and around Tallulah Falls.  A young man meets two women... and it turns out that nothing is what you think it is.  

The long and fascinating career of Joseph Habersham from the Revolutionary War to a political career in the new United States.

Georgia has a long history, and towns tend to come and go.  Auraria in Lumpkin County was the thriving center of the Georgia gold rush for a time, now it's really just a memory.  White Sulphur Springs in Hall County used to be a tourist destination.  One of my favorite subjects to research so far has been the town of Cassville in Bartow County, which ended it's existence as a different town in a different county.  Names are important.

The home front is a critical part of any war story.  There has to be something worth fighting for, and people who will provide and protect.  Soldiers have to be fed and supplied, homes need to be defended.  Sometimes the most crucial contributions to the war effort are made far behind the lines.
