Mozambicans vote in election amid hopes for an end to insurgency

Mozambicans head to the polls on Wednesday to elect a new president. Many citizens are hoping for an end to the jihadist insurgency that has ravaged the oil- and gas-rich northern province for nearly seven years. Around 17 million voters will cast ballots for the next president, as well as 250 members of parliament and provincial assemblies.
