About Mr Jason, BTRtoday
From the publisher's feed
When he was seven, Jason started writing songs -- mostly silly stuff, which went hand in hand with the hilarious (in their minds) radio shows that he and his older sister would record on their dad's dictaphone. Silly voices, comedy sketches, great music... a precursor to the shows that he ended up making for BTR nearly thirty years later.
They lived on a council estate (the UK's version of the projects), and had no money for fancy holidays or name brands. When he was eleven, after a few schoolfriends' families offered to take him on holiday abroad, he made the decision that he wouldn't leave the UK until he was on tour with a band. He stuck to that decision, though it took a bit longer than he thought it would.
He finally left the UK in 2000, for a few small gigs in Denmark. From then until now, he was a gig promoter for twelve years, booking, promoting, and doing live sound for over 2000 shows in 30+ venues. He's played in, and written songs for, a lot of bands and had about 30 songs played on BBC Radio One (even getting to record one of the last John Peel Sessions), and played 600+ gigs in the process.
In 2005, he opened Old School Studios in Norwich, UK, and has been recording bands, making records, and doing live sessions, straight to reel-to-reel tape, for his weekly Live @ Old School Studios show on BTR ever since -- every Saturday. He also plays whatever the hell he likes on Seal Of Approval, every Tuesday
