* Committee Assignments — Kansas Foundation for Excellence in Education/Kansas Teacher of the Year, Legislative Coordinator

* Past President of the National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE) and current representative for central region

* Former Board of Education member for USD 309 Nickerson/South Hutchinson

Mr. Willard is a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran. He is retired from the insurance business after serving 33 years — 14 years as an agent and 19 as an Agency Sales Manager. Mr. Willard earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Washburn University. He is active in his church, and with school and community organizations. He and his wife Deanna live in Hutchinson and have five children.
